【题目】Have you ever wondered how a kite stays in the air? Wind is very important but so are two scientific words: gravity(重力) and lift(举力).

When something is in the air, gravity is what pulls something back to the ground. _______ you throw a ball in the air, it comes back down because of gravity. When leaves ____ trees onto the ground, that’s gravity. When you put a kite in the air, gravity wants to bring it ____ . Then what keeps it up? Wind! Wind creates lift.

Lift is what happens when wind pushes against something and carries it up. When a plastic bag gets caught in the wind, lift is what causes it to rise into the air. When you put a silk scarf ____ a fan, lift causes ____ to wave(摆动). An object’s lift depends on the size of its surface or its area. A piece of _____will float(漂浮)in the wind, but it won’t float if you make that paper into a ball. That’s because you’ve made the surface smaller.

To find out if there is enough wind to fly a kite, go outside and look up. If you ______leaves dancing on trees or flags waving sideways, it’s ____ good kite-flying weather. When the wind is strong enough to move a flag, it’s moving ____ 7 to 18 miles an hour. That’s just ____ to lift a common kite.

Your schooldays should be some of the best and happiest days of your life. How can you get the most from them, and make sure you do not waste this wonderful chance to learn?

Be active about school! Don’t say things are difficult or boring. Be interested in school-life and your school subjects. Join in lots of activities. Be quick to put your hand up. Go round the school with a big smile.

Expect to work. School is not a holiday camp. If you are not working, you are not learning, and you are wasting your time at school. Teachers cannot make everything enjoyable.

62 Do not say you will do things tomorrow. Tomorrow, you have other things to do. If you get behind the class, it is very difficult to get back in front.

Talk about problems—sometimes they are only the result of misunderstanding. Don’t be too embarrassed to turn to others. You are young. No one thinks you can do everything!

Plan your time. Don’t waste life lying in bed on Saturday morning. Go and play a sport, learn the piano, work on a project, read a book, practice English, or help someone with problems. There are always a lot of things to do.

Follow my advice, and have a happy school-life!

In1882a baby girl caught such a serious fever that she nearly die. The fever cut her off from the outside world, depriving(夺去) her of sight and sound. That poor girl was Helen Keller.

Luckily Helen was not a girl who gave up easily. Soon she began to explore the world by using her other senses. She touched and smelt everything she came across. She also learnt to recognize people by feeling their faces or their clothes.

Just before her seventh birthday, the family hired a private tutor- Anne Sullivan. With the help of Anne, Helen soon learnt to read and write in Braille. She also learnt to read people’s lips by pressing her fingertips against them and feeling the movement and vibrations. She also learnt to speak, a major achievement for people who could not hear at all.

Helen proved to be a remarkable scholar, graduating with honors from Radcliffe College in 1904. While she was still at college, she wrote The Story of My Life. This was an immediate success and earned her enough money to buy her own house.

She toured the country, giving lecture after lecture. Many books were written about her and several plays and films were made about her life. Finally she became so famous that she was invited abroad and received many honors from foreign universities. In 1932, she became a vice-president of the Royal National Institute for the Blind in the United Kingdom.

After her death in 1968 an organization was set up in her name to combat (与……斗争)blindness in the developing world. Today that agency, Helen Keller International, is one of the biggest organizations working with blind people overseas.
