The weather was fine last night. My friend named Steve and I decided to sleep in the open air. I found the sleeping bags under the bed in my room. I also packed some snacks. We could hardly wait for it to get dark. We opened our sleeping bags and put them on the grass in front of my house. Steve and I played some games, talked about something interesting and had a snack. In the end it got dark. We were just falling asleep when we heard something unusual.
“Maybe it is just a small animal,” I said. Steve said nothing, but I could feel he was frightened. After I looked around, I was sure it wasn’t an animal. It was my little brother, Tommy.
“What are you doing here?” I asked. “You know, Tommy, you frightened us.”
“Sorry, Bill,” he said. “It’s hot in the room. I want to sleep outside with you.”
“Well, OK,” I said. “Just come and lie down next to us.”
“Good night, Bill and Steve,” said Tommy. “And thanks.”

Dear Scott,
Thank you for your letter. I am glad to know that everything is going well with you. Thanks also for the photos. Tina looks healthy and tall.
It's very hot here now, but sometimes it rains. We love the rain very much. We are enjoying our stay(逗留) here. I am now studying in a big school. There are more teachers and students in this school than in my school in England. My teachers and classmates are all very friendly to me.
Time goes so quickly. I am having new experience(经验) all the time. It is difficult to learn Chinese, but I am making progress(进步) with the help of my teachers and classmates.
The summer holiday is coming. Here in Xi'an we usually have the summer holiday about two months, so I'll be free for about sixty days. l hope you and Tina could come to Xi'an for a visit. Then I can show you around Xi'an in China.
Best wishes to you and Tina.

Now let’s think about television and our life at home. Today almost all the homes have television sets. There are many interesting TV programs that we can enjoy with our family.
Well, how many hours do you watch television a day? You spend a lot of time watching TV, don’t you?
TV can open our eyes and minds. It also gives us a lot of useful information that we can not learn at school. For example, we don’t go out but we can know the things all over the world every day.
On the other hand, it takes away much good time to think carefully, for talking with our family and for reading books. We sometimes find that we sit in front of a TV set without thinking of anything.
It is very important for us to select good TV programs. We must try to make good use of it to plan our lives better.
