Having spent my first 29years in the city （Boston，USA） and my next 29years in town （Gold Beach） make me realize how different the city and small town life：
People：When you walk around in the city，few people smile at you．In small towns，people are friendlier．Store clerks in city stores are polite but not friendly．In small towns，clerks are lively and talkative．They may have children who are in the same class as yours．The women in small towns are particularly friendly and knowledgeable．They know everybody and everybody's children．So there is no private （隐私） life in a small town．
Food：In a city，people go to the supermarket to buy food once a week．In small towns，you can go to the market every day and the food is fresh，and the price is lower．And there's always fruit on sale．You may even go to the farm nearby to buy the fresher vegetable too．
Others：A big city has better hospitals，doctors and medical care．If you get really sick in a small town，better medical care may be a few hours'drive．And there are no universities，museums，galleries，shopping malls or theatres in a town，which make life not so convenient and less fun．Teenagers may find nowhere to go and play．
In general，for many young people，the city is exciting，while the small town is boring．For adults the city noisy and crowded，while small town is quiet and relaxed and you can see a huge and black sky with millions of stars at night．

14．Many of us don't pay much attention to the importance of eye care．It is said that if you take care of your body，then you can surely be healthy．That is why our eyes should be given a lot of care．Natural eye care should be put in a number one place．
There are several causes leading to poor eyesight like not enough food，genes （基因） and age．Televisions，computers and reading are also the causes of having poor eyesight．If you happen to work in front of the computer，it is best to take a break every once in a while．Something dirty can cause redness and they will make you feel uncomfortable．It is bad for your eyes，too．If this happens，the best way is to clean your eyes by using cold water．You must also try your best to protect your eyes from harmful things．For example，wearing sunglasses can serve as a great way to protect your eyesight from UV rays in the strong sunlight．
Some foods will do good to your eyesight．Remember that vitamins A，C and E are good for eyes．Try to eat food groups that have these vitamins．And you should do eye exercises because exercise protects your eyesight，too．If a person exercises regularly and eats the right kind of food，his eyes will stay in good condition for a long time．
All above are natural ways of eye care that help us keep healthy eyes．Being happy all the time can be helpful to a person's eyesight，too．In a word，eye care is very important，no matter how old a person is．

4．The Piano Concert
A young woman in a small German town was going to give a piano concert．Her posters said she was a pupil of Franz Liszt，the great Hungarian pianist．
This was not true．
One day the woman learned that Liszt himself was in town．Now people would find out and she would never be able to give a concert again．What would she do？
Finally，she went to see the famous man herself．She told him everything．Her parents were dead and she was alone．She had to make a living．She decided to give piano lessons to rich children．But who would send their children to an unknown young woman？So she told people Franz Liszt was her teacher．
"I believe you，"Liszt said．"You've done wrong，but I can see you are truly sorry about it．That's enough．Now let me hear you play．"
The young woman was shy at first．But then she saw Liszt smiling．It made her feel better．Now she wasn't afraid any more．She started playing．She put her heart into it and she played wonderfully．Liszt was quite pleased．
When she finished，she turned to look at Liszt．There was a smile on his face．She could see he was pleased．Then Liszt gave her some advice．After he finished，he said，"Now you really are my pupil．Go ahead with your concert．And you can add  a note to the posters．Say that your teacher himself will be there．He will play the last piece．"
