On the International Children's Day,the orphans (孤儿) at the Wuhan Welfare Institute (福利院) for children were brought to the park. An elderly westerner was with them. The children were happy to tell him everything that was going on. They held him by hand and called him Grandpa. This man was Professor (教授) William Dorrity,from Florida US.
Professor Dorrity retired (退休) at the University (大学) of Maine in 1992. When he learned that China was in need of foreign teachers,he and his wife worked as the only two foreign teachers at Zhongnan University in Wuhan.
