Canada loves hockey. It’s one of the country’s best sports. Walking along the street, you can see lots of kids play street hockey after school. A few kids, some sticks(棍子) and a ball are all you need for this game.
But in May, 2011, Toronto didn’t want kids to play street hockey. The city of Toronto wanted to ban(禁止) the street hockey. But many people didn’t agree. Josh Smith is a person who lives in Toronto. He thought the city shouldn’t stop kids playing this game.
“Kids need to play street hockey because it makes them active(活跃的)”, he wrote in a letter.
The rule of stopping kids playing street hockey isn’t so strict. Police officers can make players play $55 as fine.
In fact, the rule is good for kids, too. Some streets are busy. So it is dangerous for kids to play hockey in the streets. They may break the car or windows. Maybe a park is a good place to play this kind of sports.
