Smoking has become socially unacceptable in the USA, due in part to the health risks. Smoking is not permitted(允许) in public buildings, and many businesses, especially restaurants, will not permit people to smoke. Those restaurants that permit smoking will usually have a separate section for customers who smoke. Your school probably has a ban(禁令) on smoking within school buildings or near building entrances.

Tobacco(烟草) products mustn't be sold to any?one under 18 years old, and American law requires all stores to ask to see an ID for anyone under 27 years old.
