Two close friends were Willie Brown and his little dog Bounce. Willie could never think of taking a walk without Bounce. Cake and play were equally shared between them. Willie taught his dog many tricks, and often said that Bounce could do almost anything in the world but talk.

There came a time, however, when Bounce really told Willie’s father something, though he could not talk.

It was a bright summer afternoon. Willie had walked with Bounce down to the river, which was not more than two blocks from his father’s store. Willie began to throw stones into the water, and Bounce lay on the grass, watching the flies(苍蝇)and catching any that came too near. There were some logs(圆木) in the river near the bank. Willie jumped upon one of them, to see if he could throw a stone across the river. Just as it left his hand, the log turned, and he fell into the water. He did not know how to swim, and there was no one to hear, though he called as loud as he could for help.

Poor little Bounce gave a great barking of worry. He ran up and down the bank two or three times, barking, looking first at Willie and then around. Then he started to run as fast as he could, up the street to the store.

When he got there the door was shut, but he scratched() against it and barked loudly, until someone came and opened it.

He caught hold of Mr. Brown’s clothes then ran to the door, then back again, catching at him, barking, and jumping. Now, Mr. Brown thought, “Something must be wrong.” Immediately he followed Bounce to the riverside.

Willie was saved in time.

Willie

1根据Two close friends were Willie Brown and his little dog Bounce. Yes, he was.

2根据Willie had walked with Bounce down to the river, which was not more than two blocks from his father’s store. It was not more than two blocks (from Willie’s father’s store).

3根据Willie jumped upon one of them, to see if he could throw a stone across the river. To see if he could throw a stone across the river.

4根据Poor little Bounce gave a great barking of worry. He felt worried/ anxious.

Then he started to run as fast as he could, up the street to the store. Immediately he followed Bounce to the riverside. Bounce and Willie’s father./ Bounce and Mr. Brown.

He was/ is clever because he could do almost anything in the world but talk in human language./because he did everything he could to help Willie./

He was/ is faithful because he went wherever Willie was. / because he tried everything to help Willie out of trouble.

He was helpful because he did everything he could to help Willie./ because he tried everything to help Willie out of trouble.

Playgrounds offer kids fresh air, friends, and exercise. However, each year, more than 200,000 kids go to hospital because they are hurt in one way or another when playing on the playground. So what can we do to improve the situation?

We should make sure the playground is safe for the children. It should be soft and thick enough, so when the children fall, they won't hurt too much. Things like water, rocks or broken glass might cause danger to the kids. Cleaners should check the playground from time to time and clear away these dangerous things. In fact, children themselves also need to help keep the playground clean and safe. That means each time after playing they should pick up the rubbish they've produced. If someone finds there is something wrong with the equipment(设施), he should report to the keeper of the playground, so people will come to fix it.

Teaching kids how to play safely is also very important. If they know the rules of the playground, they won't get hurt easily. For example, they should never push when others are on seesaws or swings. If someone is going to jump off some equipment, he should first look down to make sure no other kids are in the way. Of course, wearing right clothes may also help to keep safe. Clothes with strings() can get caught on equipment which may hurt the kid badly.

In short, our kids can both enjoy themselves and be safe if we are working together to improve the situation.

“Excuse me, but it seems that you could use this first-class ticket more than me. I know how hard it can be flying with a k5. Why don’t we trade(交换)our tickets.”

“Are you sure?”

“Oh yeah. I really don’t mind. I’m just going to be working the whole time, anyway.”

“Well, thank you. That’s very kind of you,” she said as we e6 our tickets.

As we boarded the plane, I was surprised at how good it made me feel to watch her sit down in seat 1A. In fact, at that time, seat 24B or wherever I was sitting didn’t seem that bad at all. During the flight I was so curious to see how she was doing that I could h7 stand(忍受)it. So I got up out of my seat, walked to the first-class section.
