Once upon a time there was a king living in a palace. One day he called out a group or men and said, “Go and find the person who knows about the secret of work.”

So the men left the palace and traveled around the country. First, they saw a woodcutter who was cutting down trees. They went to him and asked, “Do you like this job, sir?”

The woodcutter replied, “No, I was made to do this job by my parents.” The men sat goodbye to the woodcutter and walked away.

While traveling further, the men saw a laundryman (洗衣工). They decided to talk to him. One of them asked, “Hello, sir! Do you like this job?”

The man said, “No, I don’t. I do this just to make a living.”

Then they kept traveling until they saw a small school. A man was teaching there. They went inside and asked the teacher the same question.

The teacher replied, “I love this job. It makes me happy to teach so many poor children.”

The men considered the teacher to be the person who knew about the secret of work. So they brought him to the king.

The king learned of the teachers words and thanked him for knowing the secret of work. He then built a big new school for the teacher and the children.
