Dear Ronny,

Years ago you came to me for help. You said, “Grandpa, how is it that you’ve 1. so much in your life? You’re still full of energy, and I’m already tired of trying hard. What should I do?” Here is what I believe.

I think a lot of it has to do with how a person looks at things. I call it ‘keeping your eyes wide 2. ’.

First, realize that life is filled with 3. , but many are good ones. If you don’t keep watching for them, you’ll miss 4. of the excitement. Welcome challenges(挑战). They’ll make you wiser, stronger, and more powerful than you were the day before. When you make a mistake, be thankful for the things they teach you.

It’s also important to decide 5. what you want. Then keep your mind focused on it, and be prepared to receive it.

But be ready to end up in some new places too. As you grow up, you’ll be given bigger shoes to fill. So be ready for endings 6. challenging beginnings. Sometimes we have to be brave enough to move from the 7. to the unfamiliar.

Remember that your decisions will create your successes and failures(失败). So consider all the roads ahead, and decide which ones to follow. Then believe in yourself, get up, and get going.

Most important of all, never give up yourself. The person that ends up as a winner is the one who has the strong will to win. Give life everything you’ve got, and life will give its 8. back to you.

Love always,

Grandpa

A worker man replied that EA stood for Elbert Anderson, the businessman for whom Sam was working. And he added 78 that US(actually it was the short form for United States) stood for Uncle Sam Wilson. Soon soldiers were saying all army supplies were from "Uncle Sam".

In May 1813,this story appeared in a newspaper published in New York.Since Uncle Sam was an example of a hard-working man and a lover of America, the idea of"Uncle Sam" as the name of this kind of man became well-known rapidly.Uncle Sam was ready to help 79 and place the interest of the nation(国家利益)above all---this is in line with (与……符合)the American spirit. This makes the American consider Uncle Sam 80 the symbol of the USA.In 1961 the US Congress made a decision that "Uncle Sam" is the America's national symbol.

A week before her mother’s birthday, she went shopping after a quick and simple lunch. When she had been looking for half an hour, she found a shop that was selling cheap umbrellas, and decided to take a black one, since her mother had lost hers the month before.

She thought, “You could carry that when you are wearing clothes of any color.” So she decided to buy a lovely black umbrella and took it back to the school with her until her classes had finished.

Sally began to cry when she saw that the umbrella was no longer there. The other passengers felt very sorry for her and asked what the matter was. She told them that the black umbrella she had bought for her mother was gone, and that she had to get out at the next station. After the three other passengers heard it, they asked her for her mother’s address so that they could send the umbrella to her if someone had taken it by mistake, and brought it back after Sally had got out of the train.
