A mother wanted to encourage her son to play the piano. She bought tickets to the concert of a great pianist. When the evening arrived, they found their seats near the front of the concert hall and looked at the big piano waiting on the stage(舞台). Soon the mother found a friend to talk to and her son ran off.

At eight o’clock, the lights in the hall became weak, and the concert was set to start. The mother began to look for the boy. Then, she saw her 6-year-old son on stage. He was on the piano bench playing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.

The mother was very amazed. Before she could get her son back, the famous pianist himself was on the stage and quickly moved to the piano.

“Don’t stop. Keep playing,” he said kindly to the boy. The great pianist reached down with his left hand and began filling in the bass (低音部) part of the song. Soon, his right arm reached around the other side and played a beautiful piece of music. Together, the old pianist and the little boy impressed people with their beautiful music.

When someone laughs at you, it is called teasing.

Many people are teased. Sometimes your friends tease you just for fun. You can laugh at it and forget about it. But many times the teasing can be harmful. It can make you feel sad. It is harmful when teasing makes you hate yourself.

So, it is important to learn how to deal with teasing. Here are some ways.

Self-talk. Ask yourself, “What is more important --- what they say about me or who I really am?” Of course, who you are is more important! You need to believe in yourself. When you start talking to yourself this way, you will feel more confident.

Ignore(忽视). If you become angry, then the teasers will tease you more. So, simply ignore them. When you don’t 1 respond to them, they may stop teasing you.

Turn it into praise. You can turn negative teasing into positive praise. If someone teases you about your hair, you can say, “Thank you for noticing my hair.”

Agree. 2 You can agree with the facts because facts are the truth. If someone teases you by saying, “You have curly(卷毛的) hair”, then you can say, “Yes, I have curly hair.” Always remember to smile when you reply this way.

Laugh. You can simply laugh when someone teases you instead of feeling sad. The teasers may be surprised to see you laugh. They might even stop teasing after some time.

Teasing is never a good thing to do. You should not tease others. But when others tease you, you have to learn to deal with it well. You should also always remember that what teasers say when they tease you is not what is true about you.
