The Year of the Dog has passed, and this year we welcome the Pig!What do you think about pigs? Do you think they're dirty,or that they eat a lot? I wonder if these things are true.

When you see pigs, they are usually in dirty water or mud(泥巴). But pigs would rather stay clean if they could. Pigs have no sweat glands(汗腺),so during hot days, they have to cool themselves in water or mud. Mud can keep insects(虫子)off of them. It can also protect(保护)their skin from the sun.

If someone is eating a lot,we say they are “pigging out”. Pigs do love eating. But they're still useful to us. Besides eating pork(猪肉),we also use other parts of pigs. Pig bones and skin are used for glue and shoes. The hair is used for artists' brushes. Pigs are also used to make drugs, such as insulin(胰岛素).

“You are as stupid as a pig!” Are pigs stupid? Pigs are actually very smart animals. The only animals that are smarter than them are humans, primates(灵长类),dolphins and whales. Many experts think pigs are easier to train than dogs or cats.

For example, pigs have a good sense of smell. They can find things underground. They also help the police sniff out(嗅出)drugs.

Answer the questions according to the passage.

Years ago, if a teenager had some problems in his or her daily life, he or she might write them in the diary (日记). However, now a teenager with the same problems might go online and write them in the blog (博客). In many ways, a diary and a blog are almost the same. They both tell what happened to the writer that day. So what makes a blog different from a diary?

The biggest difference is that a blog is the one much more people can read than a diary. When I was at my sister’s age, I wrote about the same things, but in my diary. And I would put my diary in a safe place because I was afraid that others might read it.

Now teenagers choose to write in blogs because they know their friends will read what they write. If my sister writes in her blog “Nobody cares about me”, her best friends will quickly read and tell her how much they like her.

If people are caring about what they write, blogs are a very good way to write about the everyday life. However, I still like the old diary better.
