     Near the North Pole (北极) there are only two seasons: winter and summer. In winter, nights are
long. For more than two months you can't see the sun,even at noon. In summer, days are long. For more
than two months the sun never sets and there is no night at all. The temperature (温度) is very low near
the North Pole. Even in summer the temperature is below 0℃. So people there wear warm clothes all
year round. They make their clothing from the skins of animals. From the skins they also make coats,

     Guess who is the most successful young writer in China? It is 24-year-old Guo Jingming, who
earned $ 1.4 million last year, according to the Ne.7u York Times.
     Guo started his writing career in high school when he won first prize in a national writing contest
in 2001. His first book, City of Fantasy, came out soon after the contest and went on to sell more than

    Almost all Guo's novels include a shy hero who gets good grades. He mostly writes about the sad
