History of the Holiday

According to an ancient legend, Buddha（佛祖）asked all the animals to meet him on Lunar New Year. Twelve animals came, and Buddha named a year after each one.

The Year of Good Luck

Buddha announced that people born in each animal’s year would have some of that animal’s personality. If you were born in 1970, 1982, 1994 or 2006, you were born in the year of the Dog. In ancient times, the dog is considered the best symbol for honesty and loyalty（忠诚）. People who were born in these years are believed to be honest, brave and filled with good luck and strength.
