第二节

Text 6

M: Susan, what happened?

W: Well, three teenagers ran out of the school and stole my new car. While they were driving away they started arguing and drove the car straight into a tree.

M: Oh, no!

W: My car was badly damaged, but luckily the kids were not seriously hurt. They got arrested but were soon sent back to their school. I was already thinking I should get another car. Maybe a second-hand one next time.

Text 7

W: Hi, Tom! What did you do last week?

M: Well, I had a busy one. I wrote three essays for school, fixed my car over the weekend and had to work every night at the restaurant until 10 o’clock.

W: Mmm, that’s too bad.

M: It was, believe me. So how was your weekend?

W: Actually it wasn’t bad. I played tennis a couple of times and watched several movies. I went to the beach with friends on Friday and took a drive with Jack on Saturday.

Text 8

W: Spring Box Office. This is Linda speaking. Can I help you?

M: Yeah, I want one ticket for Harry Porter on the fourth of October.

W: Harry Porter? I’ll just check it for you. October 4th… no, I’ m sorry, sir. We’ve sold out.

M: What about the other days? The third or the fifth?

W: Yes, we’ve got a few tickets left on the third.

M: Oh, great! How much is it for just one ticket?

W: That’ll be 36 pounds, including the booking fee of one pound.

M: Oh, my goodness! Forget it.

Text 9

M: Hello, Tina! I’m Bob. Welcome to our program. So, what’s the title of your very short story?

W: It’s Charlie Hu. They are not in the 90 words of the story though.

M: And how long did it take you to write it?

W: I wrote it in one afternoon, about two hours, I think.

M: So, where did you get the idea of the story?

W: I read something one day in a newspaper about a man named Fred. He earned a lot of money abroad. And he had a party for everyone in his street. That gave me the idea.

M: And what’s the story about?

W: Well, it’s about a man called Charlie. But it’s also about success and how people think about success.

M: Did you expect to win the competition?

W: No, I didn’t. it was a complete surprise.
