Somehow Tim managed to stop his car thirty metres beyond Dave’s burning machine. He climbed out. One of the firemen was running up the road, but he was more than a hundred metres away from the burning car. He would never get to Dave in time.

Tim’s racing suit would not burn for about a minute even in the hottest fire. He ran to the burning car. He could see Dave in his seat with his head on the wheel.
