At 2:28pm May12 , 2008, a terrible earthquake measuring 8 on the Richter scale hit Wenchuan of Sichuan Province. Being one of the worst disasters in China, the earthquake caused a great loss of lives and property, killing nearly 70,000 people ,with 375,000 injured. Many villages and towns have fallen into ruins.
Fortunately, emergency aid from home and abroad poured into the earthquake-stricken areas without delay. People from all walks of life show great concern for the earthquake victims, donating money, medicine, tents and other life necessities. Thousands of PLA soldiers as well as volunteers came to the rescue in time . The earthquake witnessed many moving stories. A heroic teacher saved his four students under the teacher’s desk at the cost of his own life .
As the slogan goes, one area in danger, people in eight areas come to help. With the help of the people and the government, the disaster areas will soon return to normal . Experiencing such a severe earthquake，I firmly believe that united, we are strong; divided, we are weak.
