China's research icebreaker Xuelong, 【1】126 crew members aboard on the 35th Antarctic research mission, on Thursday local time left the Zhongshan Station on 【2】 (it) way back to China.

Snow Eagle 601, China's first fixed-wing aircraft for polar flight, on Thursday night also departed from the Antarctic after 【3】(complete)all assignments.

As his mother says, “I guess we’ve guided him into things we felt good for him before he did.”

By the time Lleyton was eight, he was winning “under-10 games” and always won a year ahead of his age. A professional career was looking very promising. Lleyton officially turned pro in 1997.

Last Sunday morning, a parents’ meeting held in our meeting hall, which was a meaningful and forgettable day to everyone. It was at 9 o’clock that the meeting began. Recently, two scientists, Jose Millan and Michele Tavella from the Federal Polytehnic School in Lausanne, Switzerland, showed a small robotic wheelchair directed by a person’s thoughts. In the laboratory, Tavella operated the wheelchair just by thinking about moving his left or right hand. He could even talk as he watched the vehicle and guided it with his thoughts.

“Our brain has billions of body cells(细胞). These send signals through the spinal cord(脊髓) to the body part to give us the ability to move. But spinal cord injuries or other conditions can prevent these weak electrical signals from reaching the body part.” Tavella says. “Our system allows disabled people to communicate with outer world and also to control machines.”

The scientists designed a special cap for the user. This head cover picks up the signals from the scalp(头皮) and sends them to a computer. The computer finds meanings of the signals and commands the wheelchair with an engine. The wheelchair also has two cameras that tell objects in its path. They help the computer react to commands from the brain.

Prof. Millan, the team leader, says “Scientists keep improving the computer software that finds meanings of brain signals and turns them into simple commands. The practical possibilities that BCI technology offers to disabled people can be grouped in two kinds: communication, and controlling objects. One example is this wheelchair.

He says his team has set two goals. One is testing with real patients, so as to prove that this is a technology they can get advantages from. And the other is to ensure that they can use the technology over a long period of time.

One way we employ teamwork in everyday lives is by becoming a parent. It is a parent’s job to teach their children the fundamental skills and give them the knowledge they need to be successful in life. So why is teamwork disappearing in this aspect of our lives? Well in today’s society, we find that more and more parents are experiencing that the teamwork is a one-sided thing. According to a 2009 report from the US, there are 13.7 million single parents raising their children in the US and this amount could be due to the fact that parents are not stepping up and taking responsibility for their children or they don’t have the means to, so they leave one parent to do it by themselves. This is a saddening fact, but it reflects that effective teamwork is losing ground in the parenting aspect of our everyday lives.

Another place where teamwork affects us greatly is in our jobs. It doesn’t matter if you are a small or large company; if you have at least one employee and yourself, then teamwork will be present. 170 students' task: to get a fully-designed blog up and running, complete with many positions based on a theme of choice--- to food blogs.

The entries were judged on Language proficiency(熟练程度) and the quality of writing, as well as the design and level of exchanging ideas with readers.

Academics from the National University of Singapore and the SIM University, IT experts, and a journalist from Chinese newspaper Lianhe Zaobao in Singapore made up the judges.

In the end, only three Singaporean students make it to the award list---the rest of the awards were swept up by students from China.

"No surprise," said Mr. Chow Yaw Long, 37, teachers-in-charge from Innova Junior College, which organized the event, "Although the topics were local subjects, the foreign students were generally better because of the content of the posts and their grasp of the Chinese language."

One of the three local students winning the first prize in the Best Language Award was blogger Christina Gao, 19, from the Saint Andrew's Junior College, who spared no effors in researching for and writing her blog. Each entry took her between five and seven days to produce, complete with pictures and even podcasts (播客).

Her advice for bloggers is: Be responsible.

After the busy school life started again a month ago, the more exciting part of it came in September when my classmates and I attended the very Heritage Across Borders Program which took place at Zhejiang University. The program mainly focused at how heritage is valued and preserved.

As young activists in heritage protection, we felt it honored to meet the world’s leading group of researchers and professional in heritage .studies. We are deeply impressed by their skills. Besides, their anecdotes were extreme interesting.

China is highlighted what is known as cultural confidence nowadays, but we are proud of our efforts to preserve local heritage.
