【题目】Finding a good friend can be quite difficult in the contemporary lives of teenagers. I was oncebaffledby what the definition of a good friend was, until I discovered a single step that, if taken, would make you the greatest friend.

It is willingness. That is all it takes in order to be considered a good friends. Willingness must come from within your heart. Listening to your friends makes them feel important, special and wanted. The will to sacrifice for your friends will also take you a step closer to being a good friend. For instance, as you are about to leave to enjoy your Saturday night, your best friend calls you right when you are stepping out and tells you how terrible he feels, you must be willing to give up your Saturday night and go to your friends house and try to comfort him in anyway that you can.

You must always be willing to give advice to your friends. For example, if your friends are in a situation where they do not know what to do, you must be willing to think things through and try to give them the best advice. The willingness to care is also a big must in being a good friend. You must care about how your friends feel and what they’re experiencing. Caring about your friends is one of the best things you can do, because when your friends are in their time of need and the whole world seems to turn against them, you must be the one to care about them.

Nobody ever said being a good friend was easy. If you want to be a good friend, you have to be willing to listen, sacrifice, give advice and care about your friends.

【题目】Science and technology have advanced at such a rate that cloning has now become a reality. The possibility of cloning humans is a serious issue(争论点) and raises ethical(伦理的) questions. In my opinion, cloning is useful for research into cures for disease. However, I think that it needs to be approached with caution and carefully monitored by governments.

Research into cloning and stem(严格的) cell production is primarily aimed at finding new treatments for currently incurable illnesses. While this would improve the quality of life for many, not enough is understood about what effects cloning would have on the world in the future. This is primarily because we do not understand enough about the results of cloning and both the physical and psychological effects that it is likely to have on cloned humans and on the rest of the world. Furthermore, it is thought that a cloned human would be unlikely to survive birth and would suffer from complications(并发症) resulting from malformed(畸形) organs .

There are also serious ethical issues in danger. In essence(在本质上), those who are against cloning would argue that scientists have no right to play God and to interfere(干扰)with natural processes. Producing embryos for the purpose of harvesting stem cells for research presents important questions about the nature and status of the embryo being produced. It may also make us question whether throwing it away after use reduces the value we place on human life.

In conclusion, I do not agree that research into cloning using human embryos should continue. This is not only because it may reduce the value we place on human life, but also because not enough is known about the effects. However, I do think that if there is a way to produce stem cells using cloning which does not put human life at risk, then governments should continue to support it.

1What is the writer’s general opinion on cloning?

A. It is useful in every area of research.

B. It needs to be carefully controlled by governments.

C. It is useful for research into cures for disease if it is controlled.

D. It is only useful for research into cures for disease.

2The underlined word “approach” in the first paragraph means “______”

A. reach a high level or amount B. move forward

C. come near D. deal with

3The writer’s main reason against cloning is that ______.

A. not enough is known about the effects of cloning

B. a cloned human would be likely to die of malformed organs

C. cloning has negative physical and psychological effects on clones

D. it would affect the quality of life for many

4In the last paragraph, the writer thinks governments should______

A. not put human life at risk

B. support all forms of research into stern cell production

C. not support any form of research into stern cell production

D. support research into stern cell production harmless to humans life

【题目】In Florida, one McDonald's customer started a pay-it-forward chain that inspired other 249 customers to be generous and do the same.

ABC News reports the spirit of giving is in the air as 250 drive-thru (免下车服务) customers at a local McDonald's paid for the meals of the people next to them. Lakeland customer Torie Keene was paying for her food on Wednesday morning when she decided to pay for the meal of the car next to her.

Keene then purposely told McDonald's cashier Marisabel Figueroa to greet the other customer "Merry Christmas" and not "Happy Holidays." The next customer was moved when Figueroa said her food was already paid by the previous car. That's when she thought that she would love to do the same and the domino effect followed.

Figueroa, who worked from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, said that the chain reaction almost lasted for her entire shift. "I just kept giving everyone the same message, and they were all so stunned and so happy," she continued. "One lady even paid for the meals of the next three cars behind her."

While people were amazed by how generous they could get, Figueroa said she had "never experienced something like that before" in her 12 years of working for McDonald's. "I feel very blessed to have been a part of all that," the cashier said.

Keene contacted Figueroa on Facebook when the pay-it-forward chain came out in the local news. She revealed that she was the "mystery customer" that started the long chain of kindness.

【题目】Music is magic! Music speaks louder than words and it is a “language” that the whole world can understand. A piece of music can produce a response in the heart and mind. Like feeling an electrical current or receiving a personal radio signal, music has a spiritual effect on a person. Different kinds of music influence people in different ways.

I have listened to music all my life. When I was twelve years old, the Beatles came to America and my whole world opened up. Maybe young people today cannot understand the influence of the Beatles when they exploded across America. Their influence changed the way we dressed, looked, acted and spoke... even our culture. The Beatles arrived in America from the UK just three months after the assassination(暗杀) of President John Kennedy, which had put America into a great depression. And the freshness and lively spirit of the Beatles was exactly what the country needed to refresh itself.

Music links the heart of the hearer with that of the composer. This means that it mixes the spirit of the composer with your spirit when you listen to it. And the music can take your spirit out of your body and transport you into another world. Music has a great way of touching people. Music can make you laugh, cry or shout. It's also a great source of inspiration.

Try this one day and notice what happens: make yourself a cup of tea, sit on your sofa and play one of your favorite songs. Close your eyes, and soon you'll find yourself creating vivid mental imagesmatching the music that you are listening to.

【1】Music has magical power because it ________.

A. is a kind of language

B. can be played much louder than words

A. They were the biggest band in American history.

B. They are not accepted by modern American people.

C. They appeared at a special time in American politics.

D. They represented the roots of American culture.

【3】Music influences people in the following ways except ________.

A. connecting the listener and the composer mentally

B. transporting people from one place to another
