4Hotels That Will Make Your Life Easier
BY JOHN BRANDON
For the business traveler who is all about efficiency:Check out these hotels that will get you in and out with a minimum of trouble.
When you are pressed for time on a business trip,nothing can infuriate you more than a slow hotel check-in process.On your next trip,try these hotels that offer a speedier check-in process.

1.Yotel New York
The self-service kiosks at this high-tech New York hotel work just like the ones you'd see at an airport.There are just five-steps to register and obtain your card key.There is even a robotic luggage bellboy.You tap in the number of bags you are carrying and sizes,then wait for a robot arm to swing down and store your luggage in a locker (say,for a day trip).This also speeds up the check-in process if the first thing you need to do,like me,is head to a series of meetings.
2.Marriott Detroit Airport
Another option for business travelers in a hurry:Marriott is rolling out its mobile check-in app to 325hotels this year,including the Marriott Detroit Airport hotel.(I've tested the app itself but not for a real visit quite yet.) Here is the basic idea:you download the iphone or Android app.The night before,you can"check-in"virtually.When you arrive,you get an alert that the room is ready and your key,which is already tied to your reservation,is waiting for you at the desk.
3.Hyatt Regency Minneapolis
I happened to stay at this hotel recently and liked how fast the kiosk check-in works.Like the Yotel,the kiosk asks you to insert your credit card,similar to an airport terminal.The whole process took about three minutes,when I left,I was equally impressed with the fast check-out.An agent meets you in the lobby with an ipad and asks for an email to use for a receipt.The big advantage:you never have to wait in line.
4.Radisson:LaCrosse
The Radisson is trying to make the kiosk process even faster,at a few select hotels like the Radisson Lacrosse in Wisconsin,you use a mobile app to register and then receive a barcode by email or text.When you get the kiosk,you scan the barcode to get your key without any other steps required.It's super fast.You can find this new check-in system at the Radisson hotels in Salt Lake City,Seattle,and Phoenix as well.

3.Most people make a donation if they want to help those in need. And they hope that if they join demonstrations or hand out leaflets, they'll make others aware of the terrible conditions some people face. But 47-year-old British comedian,Eddie Izzard, did something completely different. He decided to raise money by running 1,100 miles through England,Wales,Northern Ireland and Scotland. And he managed to raise more than£200,000!
How long did it take him to run 1,100 miles?Believe it or not,it took him just 51 days. For six days out of every seven he ran at least 26 miles. In other words,he ran 43 marathons in less than two months, before he finished in great style and pouring rain in London's Trafalgar Square!
When asked how he felt,he told the BBC that he was planning to"sleep for a week".He thanked the people who had waited for him in Trafalgar Square despite the rain. They had all come to support him and to applaud his incredible achievement.
And the comedian admitted that his journey was pretty painful. He had to have his feet bandaged every day but still lost several of his toenails, and he had blisters (水泡)all over his feet.He wouldn't have been able to do what he did if he hadn't taken ice baths for his legs at the end of each day. These baths helped to"stop your legs inflating to twice the size of an elephant",as Eddie commented.
People who have no idea about running and experts alike are impressed with what he has achieved.Andy Dixon, editor of Runner's World,a magazine for long-distance runners, says,"Covering 26 miles in a day at whatever speed for 43 runs,it's demanding.A five-hour marathon is fairly decent pace. It's a massive achievement.
So,how did he do it?Well, when he decided to run,he wasn't even particularly fit.He ran his marathons slowly at first.Ten hours a day to begin with and,as he got fitter,he got faster. In the end he was finishing in just over five hours. But fitness alone was not enough. What was more important was the fact that he wanted to make a difference to other people's lives.
What Eddie Izzard did was so special that the documentary of his run has been made into an inspiring film:Believe!"You've got to believe you can be something else,"Eddie says in the film."I've done that a few times. That's why I keep going."

12.May the first is an important date in the college admission process in the United States.This is the last day for high school seniors to accept or reject offers of admission in the fall.But according to a recent report,there is a great change.Acceptance rates at the top colleges this year were lower than ever.(36)A
A   These days,college applicants are applying to more colleges because online and common applications make the process easier.(37)E  On the other hand,deciding students for top colleges to accept can be difficult because it takes much time.Students may not like being put on waiting lists.Also,common colleges work more to get the students they accept to accept them.Some colleges hold visiting days that offer a chance to attend classes and stay overnight.Some universities send gifts.(38)B.
For many families,the most important thing colleges can do is to show them the money,especially this year; the weak economy makes parents nervous.(39)C.The recent problems that spread from the housing market to credit markets have even affected student's loans.So lately,top schools have to spare lots of money to increase their financial aid for students.
(40)G.The Education Department expects the number of high school graduates to start to go down.This will happen as the last of the children of the baby boom generation finishes high school.The number is not expected to start rising again until 2015.
A.What contributes to it?
B.But top colleges ignore them.
C.They cannot afford college as planned.
D.But a mistake can be costly if it happens.
E.It can mean several acceptances to choose from.
F.They have international students who know English.
G.Besides,top colleges are facing changes in the population.
