10.For young people,friends are often determined by their being close.Whoever is around is your friend.As humans get older,they become more selective (讲究的) in choosing whom they spend time with,as well as how they spend their time.According to a new study,the same goes for monkeys.The findings,in the journal Cell Biology,suggest human selectivity may be a very strong part of our evolutionary history (进化史).
"An important finding suggests that humans become more socially selective when they know that their remaining life time is limited,such as in old age,"Professor Laura Almeling explained."We don't think that monkeys are aware of their own limited future time.Therefore,if they show similar changes in old age,their selectivity cannot be attributed to their knowledge about a limited future time,"she continued.
Researchers showed a variety of new animal toys,only one of which included a food treat,to a group of African monkeys.Young monkeys quickly grew out of their interest in the toys,preferring only the object that included food once they grew up.
Researchers also measured how monkeys'social activities change as they age,by watching and measuring their responses to pictures and sounds of friends.
Although older monkeys still took part in and remained interested in group activities,they put less time and energy into social relationships."With increasing age,the monkeys became more selective in their social activities,"Almeling said."They had fewer‘friends'and put less time into social activities.Interestingly,however,they were still interested in what was going on in their social world.Older females continued to respond particularly strongly to hearing a scream for help from their best friend,"Almeling explained."Older males still liked to look at pictures of the newborns,"she said.

32.What has the new study found?C
A.Humans have many things in common with monkeys.
B.Monkeys become closer to each other as they get older.
C.Monkeys get more selective as they get older.
D.Humans choose friends more seriously when they are older.
33.What happens to monkeys as they get older?A
A.They choose friends and social activities more carefully.
B.Their knowledge about their future time grows.
C.They become aware that they have little time left.
D.They show more interest in food.
34.What can the underlined words be replaced by?C
A.Be devoted to     B.Be helpful to       C.Be caused by      D.Be aware of

As more cities and companies become increasing international,there is a growing number of children that are creating their own sub-culture.Often (36)A to as TCKs (Third Culture Kids) or Global Nomads,these students have a(n) (37)B impact on the global community.
So who are these Third Culture Kids?They are not a new phenomenon.As one looks(38)B history,there is a realization that certain groups of people have led highly (39)C lives,a key(40)D in describing TCKs.They often(41)C their parents into another country and spend a significant part of his or her development years outside the parents'culture.They are(42)A to new cultures and to other people in the community who (43)D move constantly.Their numbers (44)B into the hundreds of thousands and are increasing.Ease of (45)D and constant relocation of people through multinational companies and global business links contribute to this (46)A.

15.In many cases they have built their reputations over hundreds of years,and they have become names that millions of Chinese love,respect and most of all buy.
At least once a year,Meng Wei visits several shops in Beijing that specialize in traditional goods, longing to buy something for his family in Xi'an.
"It's a routine I go through before I head home for big holidays such as the Spring Festival,"Meng says.
His shopping list includes Daoxiangcun pastries and Niulanshan Erguotou."My mother has a sweet tooth and she always has a preference for Daoxiangcun,and my uncles love the kick of Erguotou,"Meng says.
A trust in quality and a desire for things of the past are among the reasons why many people buy these time-honored brands.
However,with such brands one characteristic stands out above all else:Their popularity has endured for years,decades and in many cases centuries.That popularity was evident in the attention the public gave to them in a survey(调查) of time-honored brands in Beijing last year,which drew more than 4million respondents.
Yili,a century-old pastry brand,came out on top as the favorite.There are some old brands,too,that have been bywords for older generations,faded from view but then made spectacular comebacks.
One of these is Beibingyang (Arctic Ocean) a soft drink that was the first commercial beverage many Beijingers tasted.It disappeared from the market for 15years but resurfaced in 2010.It again proved to be a hit,many people saying it took them back to the 1960s and 1970s,and was a natural reference point as older people started recounting childhood stories to their children.
"Such brands are the product of market competition and real quality,"says Yin Jie,an official with a committee of experts charged with revitalizing Chinese time-honored brands.These brands are 230years old on average,and some were highly popular back when the country enjoyed great prosperity(繁荣) hundreds of years ago,Yin says."To this day what China contributes to these brands is certain rare natural ingredients(成分),and that keeps them going."

24.What does the underlined word"they"in Paragraph 1refer to?B

2.Like many Czechs (捷克人),Luká? Bern?,38,enjoys going out to the pub with his friends for conversation and a few beers."I don't drink every day,"he says."I think about three times a week.When I go out,I usually have five to six beers at a time,about the same as my friends."The beers are half-liters,or 500 ml each.
If a half-liter of four-percent beer contains 16g of pure alcohol(酒精),Bern? and his friends are drinking 80 to 96 grams of pure alcohol on each outing.The Czech Republic's National Institute of Public Health,however,suggests that men take in fewer than 24g of pure alcohol per day; women,fewer than 16g.
Medical experts in over 40 countries around the world have agreed that drinking"too much"can cause harm.What they can't seem to agree upon is just how much is"too much."National safety levels are quite different,from a limit of 10g a day in the Netherlands to Denmark's 60g.
There are a number of reasons for this.Dr.Larry Altshuler,a medicine expert for the Cancer Treatment Centers in Tulsa,explains that while everything is based on research,"Every group,race,and gender responds to alcohol differently."
Also,researchers aren't using the same models or methods.He adds,"It can be like apples and oranges.How do you measure alcohol?Units,drinks,bottles or cans?What's the alcohol content(含量)?Is it light or heavy?"While a half-liter of four percent beer contains 16g of pure alcohol,a half-liter of five percent lager contains 20g.
Constance Scharff,a director of Addiction Research at Cliffside Malibu Treatment Center in California,says she believes the reason"is largely cultural.""But the evidence is clear that the more you drink,the more likely you are to develop alcohol-related health problems."
