Hi, Janice,

It's been a month since I came to this new school and I really want share with you some of the problems I have been experiencing.

As I tell you last time, I made three new friend here. We hang out together during lunch and after school. We've been spending a lot of time sing in karaoke bars. It's been three Saturdays now and it really costs me many. And I started to see this as a time¡ªwasting activity! In fact ,I don¡¯t like to go anymore, so I¡¯m afraid I¡¯ll lose their friendship. How do you think I should do? If you are me ,would you talk to him?

Please help with me and give me some advice.

Grace

¡¾ÌâÄ¿¡¿We all know what a brain is. A doctor will tell you that the brain is the organ of the body in the head. It controls our body's functions, movements, emotions and thoughts. But a brain can mean so much more.

A brain can also simply be a smart person, If a person is called brainy, she is smartand intelligent. If a family has many children but one of them is super smart, you could say, "She's the brains in the family. " And if you are the brains behind something you .are responsible for developing or organizing something. For example, Bill Gates is the brains behind Microsoft Brain trust is a group of experts who give advice. Word experts say the phrase "brain trust" became popular when Franklin D. Roosevelt first ran for president in 1932, Several professors gave him advice on social and political issues facing the U. S.

These professors were called his "brain trust. "These ways we use the word "brain" all make sense. But other ways we use the word are not so easy to understand. For example, to understand the next brain expression, you first need to know the word¡°drain." As a verb to drain means to,remove something by letting it flow away. So a brain drain may sound like a disease where the brain flows out the ears. But, brain drain is when a country's most educated people leave their countries to live in another. The brains are, sort of,draining out of the country.

However,if people are responsible for a great idea, you could say they brainstormed it. Here, brainstorm is not an act of weather. It is a process of thinking creatively about a complex topic. For example, business leaders may use brainstorming to create new products, and government leaders may brainstorm to solve problems. If people are brainwashed, it does not mean their brains are nice and clean. To brainwash means to make someone accept new beliefs by using repeated pressure in a forceful or tricky way. Keep in mind that brainwash is never used in a positive way.

A. Gray squirrels are native to Indiana.

B. But they seldom remember where they buried every nut.

C. Red squirrels bury nuts in a different way.

D. The black walnut is the nut of choice for both kinds of squirrels.

E. Jake Goheen calls them a sign of an environmental problem more than a cause.

F. Scientists are worried that they will drive away the gray squirrels.

G. Well, scientists have been busy gathering information about what the squirrels

Forgiveness

Forgiveness is a quality that is difficult to have. When someone has deeply hurt you, it can be extremely difficult to let go of your hate. However, forgiveness is possible, and it can be surprisingly beneficial to your physical and mental health. People who forgive show less sadness, anger and stress and more hopefulness, according to a recent research.

¡¾1¡¿ Try the following steps£º

Calm yourself. ¡¾2¡¿ You can take a couple of breaths and think of something that gives you pleasure: a beautiful scene in nature, or someone you love.

Don¡¯t wait for an apology. Many times the person who hurt you does not intend to apologize. They may have wanted to hurt you or they just don¡¯t see things the same way ¡¾3¡¿ Keep in mind that forgiveness does not necessarily mean becoming friends again with the person who upset you.

Take the control away from your offender(ð·¸Õß). Rethinking about your hurt gives power to the person who caused you pain. Instead of focusing on your wounded feelings, learn to look for the love, beauty and kindness around you.

¡¾4¡¿ If you understand your offender, you may realize that he or she was acting out of unawareness, fear, and even love. You may want to write a letter to yourself from your offender¡¯s point of view.

Don¡¯t forget to forgive yourself. ¡¾5¡¿ But it can rob(¶áÈ¡) you of your self-confidence if you don¡¯t do it.

A. How should you start to forgive?

B. Why should you forgive?

C. Try to see things from your offender¡¯s angle.

D. Recognize the benefits of forgiveness.

E. For some people, forgiving themselves is the biggest challenge.

F. If you wait for people to apologize, you could be waiting an awfully long time.

G. To make your anger die away, try a simple stress management technique.
