【题目】We all desire to be respected, but it doesn’t come easily just by mere wishing. Outlined below are some steps you can do to get respect.

Treat others with respect. The golden rule, “Do unto others what you would like others to do unto you”, always holds true. If you cannot respect other people, do not expect them to respect you. 1 Watch your attitude and change those ones that are hurting your relationship with others. If you notice people avoiding you or laughing at you behind your back, they are not showing you respect.2 By doing so, you will find out which areas you need to improve to get the respect you deserve.

3 Knowing who you are and valuing yourself as a person with a clear and fierce determination will eventually make you outstanding. People will respect individuals who believe in themselves.

Earn the respect. If you think you can demand respect from others by force, you are wrong. 4 Manipulating (操纵) others in order to gain respect is not only dangerous, but you are also making a fool of yourself. Humble yourself and work hard to become a respectable person. Your efforts will be rewarded by the respect, people give back to you.

Homestay provides English language students the opportunity to speak English outside the classroom and the experience of being part of a British home.
What to Expect
The host will provide accommodation and meals. Rooms will be cleaned and bedcovers changed at least once a week. You will be given the house key and the host is there to offer help and advice as well as to take an interest in your physical and mental health.
Accommodation Zones
Homestays are located in London mainly in Zones 2, 3 and 4 of the transport system. Most hosts do not live in the town center as much of central London is commercial and not residential. *Breakfast Packed Lunch and Dinner
It's important to note that few English families still provide a traditional cooked breakfast. Your accommodation includes Continental Breakfast which normally consists of fruit juice, cereal, bread and tea or coffee. Cheese, fruit and cold meat are not normally part of a Continental Breakfast in England. Dinners usually consist of meat or fish with vegetables followed by dessert, fruit and coffee.
Friends
If you wish to invite a friend over to visit, you must first ask your host's permission. You have no right to entertain friends in a family home as some families feel it is an invasion(侵犯) of their privacy.
Self Catering Accommodation in Private Homes
Accommodation on a room-only basis includes shared kitchen and bathroom facilities (设施) and often a main living room. This kind of accommodation offers an independent lifestyle and is more suitable for the long-stay student. In our daily life, it is necessary to make small talk in some situations. It helps to fill time between people when it is very quiet. You may not feel like talking with someone else or you are very shy at the beginning, but it is sometimes thought to be not polite to say nothing.
People use small talk almost every day. It usually takes place when you meet someone you don't know at all or someone you're not familiar with. For example, waiters and hairdressers often make small talk with their customers(顾客). If you happen to be outside when the postman comes to your door, you might make small talk with him, too.
Most often, small talk happens in places where people are waiting for something. For example, you might talk with another person who is waiting for the bus to arrive. People also make small talk in a doctor's waiting room, or when they are waiting in a line to buy something. At the office, people make small talk in lunch rooms, especially if there is a line-up. Mingling is often required(要求)among people who don't know each other very well at a party. That is to say, they are expected to walk around and talk with others.
The most common time for small talk to happen is the first time you see or meet someone on a given day. For example, if you see a neighbor in the waiting room of the airport you might say hello and discuss the sports or weather. However, the next time you see each other you might just smile and say nothing. If there is very little noise, it might be the right time to start a pleasant conversation. If someone is reading a book at the bus stop, it is probably not a good idea to start a conversation. Another good time to make small talk is during a break in a meeting when there is nothing important going on. However, it is important to recognize the signal when the other person wants the conversation to stop.
(1)When does small talk most probably happen?
A.When reading on a bus.

【题目】根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中的两项为多余选项。
Chinese are very generous when it comes to educating their children. Not caring about the money, parents often send their children to the best schools or even abroad to England, the United States and Australia. They also want their children to take extra-course activities where they will either learn a musical instrument or ballet, or other classes which will give them a head start in life. So parents will spend an unreasonable amount of money on education. However, what most parents fail to see is that the best early education they can give their children is usually very cheap.
Parents can see that their children's skills differ. Some children are very skilled in some areas while poor in others. The problem is that parents are only educating their children on how to take multiple-choice tests and how to study well, but parents are not teaching them the most important skills that they need to be confident, happy and clever.
Parents can achieve this by teaching practical skills like cooking, sewing and doing other housework. Teaching a child to cook will improve many of the skills that he will need later in life. It is an enjoyable but difficult experience. A good cook always tries to improve his cooking, so he will learn to work hard and gradually finish his job successfully step by step. The result, a well-cooked dinner, will give him much satisfaction and lots of self-confidence.
Some old machines, such as a broken radio or TV set that you give your child to play with will make him curious and arouse his interest. He will spend hours looking at them, trying to repair them; your child might become an engineer when he grows up. And that is more important.
A. Even poor couples will buy a computer for their son or daughter.
B. The more cost in education, the better the result will be.
C. Cooking requires patience and time.
D. What most parents fail to realize though, is that today's children are badly off for self-respect and self-confidence.
E. The Chinese believe that the more expensive an education is, the better it is.
F. These activities are not only teaching a child to read a book, but rather to think, to use his mind.
G. Thus, the more the children use the computer, the better the result will be.
