We walked in so quietly that the nurse at the desk didn't even lift her eyes from the book. Mum pointed at a big chair by the door and I knew she wanted me to sit down. While I watched mouth open in surprise, Mum took off her hat and coat and gave them to me to hold. She walked quietly to the small room by the lift and took out a wet mop. “Yes, I'm glad they've finally decided to clean them,” the nurse answered. She looked at Mum strangely and said, “But aren't you working late?”

Mum just pushed harder, each swipe(拖一下)of the mop taking her farther and farther down the hall. I watched until she was out of sight and the nurse had turned back to write in the big book.

After a long time Mum came back. Her eyes were shining. She quickly put the mop back and took my hand. As we turned to go out of the door, Mum bowed politely to the nurse and said, “Thank you.”

Outside, Mum told me, “Dagmar is fine. No fever.”

“You saw her, Mum?”

“Of course. I told her about the hospital rules, and she will not expect us until tomorrow. Dad will stop worrying as well. It's a fine hospital. But such floors! A mop is no good. You need a brush.”

Mum just pushed harder, each swipe(拖一下)of the mop taking her farther and farther down the hall. I watched until she was out of sight. Outside, Mum told me, “Dagmar is fine. She pushed the mop past the desk and as the nurse looked up, Mum nodded and said, “Very dirty floors.”描述了妈妈悄悄地走到电梯旁的小房间,拿出一把湿拖把。她把拖把推过桌子,然后对抬头看的护士说:“地板很脏。”第二段“Yes, I'm glad they've finally decided to clean them,” the nurse answered. She looked at Mum strangely and said, “But aren't you working late?”从护士说的话“我很高兴他们终于决定打扫了”“但是你不是要工作到很晚吗?”可判断护士以为妈妈是医院的清洁工,故选D

3推理判断题。根据文章最后三段妈妈说的Dagmar is fine. No fever.” I told her about the hospital rules, and she will not expect us until tomorrow. Dad will stop worrying as well.

Bill Gates’ body might live in the present, but his brain lives in the future. He has made a career out of predicting what will happen in matters of computing, public health and the environment. He correctly predicted the rise of smartphones and social media, and his latest predictions could come true, too. Here’s what Gates predicts for the future of our world.

In his Annual Letter 2015, Gates made the prediction that Africa’s agriculture industry would increase productivity by 50% by 2030. Now the continent buys about $50 billion worth of food from other countries each year, although 70% of people in Africa are farmers. “In the next 15 yearshowevercreations in farming will solve the food problem in Africa,” Gates wrote. “The world has already developed crops that are more productive; with all the technologies, African farmers could possibly double their harvests.”

By 2035, there could be almost no poor countries. In his Annual Letter 2014, Gates bravely predicted that continued levels of foreign help could mean there would be almost no more poor countries by 2035. “Almost all countries will be what we now call lower-middle income or richer,” Gates explained. “Countries will learn from their most productive neighbors and benefit from things like better seeds and the digital revolution. ”

By 2030, the world will discover a clean-energy breakthrough to power our world. One of Gate’s more hopeful predictions which came in 2016 said that wind, solar, or some other renewable resources would power most of the world within 15 years. “The difficulty we face is big, perhaps bigger than many people imagine,” he wrote in his letter. “But so is the chance to make things better.” Many of the poor countries he visited had no running water or electricity. At night this meant they couldn’t light or power their homes, and keep businesses open.” If the world can find a type of cheap, clean energy, it will do more than prevent climate change,” he wrote. “It will change the lives of millions of the poorest families.”

C.Rely on the digital revolution.D.Learn from the experience of other countries.

4What’s Gates’ attitude to clean-energy development?

A.It’s no easy task.B.It’s hard to imagine.

C.It can put climate change to an end.D.It has little to do with poor families.

【题目】 An animated(动画) film Coco has made a dark horse in the Chinese film box office competition at the end of these recent two years. Since its first run on Nov 24, 2017 in China, the animation has taken in over 602 million yuan. Against the background of the Mexican holiday Dia de los Muertos, a day in memory of the dead, it centers on a 12-year-old boy named Miguel accidentally transported to the land of the dead, where he seeks his great-great-grandfather’s help to be a great musician and also return him to his family.

Coco has scored 9. l of 10 points at Chinese movie review website Douban for its warm story, popular soundtrack and, most of all, meaningful theme. However, the film wasn't favored by Chinese moviegoers at first because of the poor translation of the film title.

It was called “Xun Meng Huan You Ji”, meaning the journey to chase dreams in Chinese.” It's such an improper name. The film is more than a little boy's musical dreams—it also explores the meaning of life and death." said a Sina Weibo user Gu Xudong. “The awful translation almost made me miss such a great film. When I first noticed its name, I thought it another Forrest Gump.” said the Sina Weibo user Xiao Pihai.

Some locations featured in the animation have gained much attention on Chinese social media platforms like WeChat and Sina Weibo. And many people expressed their hopes to visit these scenic spots in the future. Meanwhile, the film's universal values that you should cherish your family and loved ones won much appreciation from the audiences. The boy's grandma Coco reminded me of my grandmother. I couldn't help but sob at the cinema." said the netizen Xu Lingling.

The meaning of life and death is an everlasting issue for humans. And it seems unlikely to be explored in animation, but more animated films are going in that direction. Coco tells us, “Death is not a scary thing at all, but being forgotten by others should be.” “The physical death is not the final destination. The moment when no living people remember who you are, then you have gone forever,” is one of the most impressive lyrics in the film.

1What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph1 refer to?

A.the background.B.the animation.

C.the Mexican holiday.D.the memory of the dead.

2Coco has achieved great success at the popular Chinese movie review website mainly because of _______.

A.interesting story.B.meaningful theme.

C.positive energy.D.popular soundtrack.

3What can we learn from the passage?

A.Xu Lingling had a low opinion of the translation of the film title.

B.People would rather die than be forgotten by others.

C.The film’s values won much appreciation from the audiences.

D.Many people visited these scenic locations featured in the animation.

4What is the main idea of the passage?

A.People increasingly love cross cultural stories.

B.An animated film exploring life and death wins big.

C.Profound truths are revealed in an animated film.

D.Poor translation arouses debate.
