15.As a doctor,I became the (61)greatest (great)surgeon in the country and the president of the National Society of Surgeons. For this reason,a celebration (62)was held(hold)in my honor But I couldn't help feeling sad.
On the day,my friend came up to me and said:"You've achieved something that others can't even dream about.(63)Whyare you so sad?"
"I've achieved something that I didn't even want,"I said,"I (64)never wanted to be a surgeon and now I can't escape from it.If I would suffer a (65)failure(fail)then maybe I would have a chance to do something that I really love.But for now,I'm chained to a thing that I don't evenlike."
"You(66)mustbe joking?"my friend cried out,"The biggest honor for a surgeon is(67)becoming(become) the president of our national society.Your wife is happy, your children are happy.Everyone has the highest respect for you!"
But I don t respect myself,that's (68)what is wrong.I wanted to be a dancer, but my parents were against (69)itand I listened to them.I was weak.I became a great surgeon, but I am not working in the field that I wanted to devote my life (70)to.That is why I am unhappy.

此处是动名词短语becoming the president of our national society作表语.
69.it 考查代词.it指代wanted to be a dancer这件事.

5.On March 14 at the National Building Museum in Washington,D.C.,40 high school seniors showed off their scientific research to a crowd of more than 500 people.Positioned at their posters, the students enthusiastically described their efforts to improve flight control, study implied tendency, and track space rubbish, for just a few examples. Before the evening was over, one deserving senior received a﹩250,000top prize,and her peers went home with large scholarships,too.The students had come to Washington as finalists for the 2017Regeneron Science Talent Search,a program of Society for Science & the Public,which publishes Science News.It was their big night and a night I look forward to every year.
In many ways,attending the Science Talent Search festival is like going to the poster gathering at a scientific meeting.Anybody eager can dive in and find out something new.There are questions to ask about methods,results and applications.Certain themes emerge:Cancer treatment and machine learning appeared a few times this year.But in other ways the event is unusual.Rarely does such charm accompany scientific meetings.Science Talent Search finalists are treated like stars,with standing cheers,a balloon drop and media attention more often reserved for athletes or rock bands.Here,there's no doubt that the science kids are cool.
The event is inspiring because these teens offer hope that the future is bright for science.We live in challenging times.There's much talk about public distrust of science.Yet,deeply curious young people are still asking interesting questions about the world.They want to know how to face science's big challenges,and they want to participate in basic discovery.I went home from the festival convinced that there will always be scientists.Scientists may not always be celebrated by everyone,but the rewards that come with pursuing knowledge and the excitement of discovery will probably continue.
