【题目】Is there such a thing as being "over-protective"?

I can honestly say that my answer to that question1(change) dramatically(戏剧性地)since I became a parent.

Before the birth of my daughter.I taught at2private school often viewing my students as over-protected, worrying3would happen when they went on to middle schools.

Some did fine, and some did not. Some needed constant pats on the back, words of4(encourage) and extra support, which I5(happy) gave.Others were content on their own, needing little or no interaction(互动)with their teacher.6for the most part, graduates would go on for higher schooling.

I'd always supposed their parents were over-protective,for they were the ones that still walked their7(five) graders into the classroom and met them at the school gate.

Admittedly,I laughed at those parents,8(think) their children would never learn to be9(independence) if they didn't let go just a little. Then I had my own daughter. The moment I looked at her little face,I10(know) I'd do everything in my power to protect her and make sure she always felt safe!

One of the greatest biologists the world has ever seen was Charles Darwin. Darwin was born to a middle-class family in Shrewsbury, England, in February, 1809. His father was the leading doctor of the town.

【1】 He loved to walk through the woods looking at plants and birds. At the proper age, he was admitted into Shrewsbury School. There he studied Latin, classical literature, and ancient history. In 1859, Darwin published his famous book, The Origin of Species. 5 The theory was instantly and very strongly attacked. Darwin was accused of destroying religion and insulting (侮辱) the human race. Trying to come to a decision complete on your own can be risky. Some decisions are very important that they shouldn’t made without talking to others first. There have several advantages if you consult the persons you trust. For one thing, they can give you valuable advice and they may point out some things you may have been overlooked. For another, friends may stop you from making big mistakes.

When consult others about important decisions, you should keep two things on mind. The first one is that you need to find someone whom you respected enough to trust his or her judgment. The second thing to consider is how to do if you disagree with this person. Maybe turning to a third or fourth person for help is a good choice. In a word, making any big decision alone can lead to problems. Talking to friends or family members first are always a good idea.
