Imagine looking out of your window and seeing a whale swim by.That's the sight that surprises New York City residents recently. In the past years, humpback whales have been spotted in the two rivers surrounding the island of Manhattan, the Hudson River and the East River.
Experts say that river cleanup efforts have improved water quality and led to an increase in the number of fish there.Fish are on the humpback's menu. The sighting is also an encouraging sign that conservation efforts are helping humpback whales come back.In 1973,the species was listed as the endangered. Now scientists say humpback whales are making a comeback.
By the middle of the 20th century, hunting whales for profit had nearly wiped out many whale species. In 1973, the U.S. set up the Endangered Species Act.People were no longer allowed to hunt them in the U.S. waters. In 1982, the International Whaling is illegal worldwide.Last September,it was announced that nine groups of humpback whales are no longer endangered.Four groups are still endangered and a fifth is threatened.
The number of them is growing particularly faster in the Southern Hemisphere like Tasman Sea and Coral Sea.And the number of humpback whales in Hawaii has made an amazing recovery. In 1966,there were fewer than 1,500 humpbacks there.Today there are about 10,000.But humpbacks in other parts of the world are still struggling.
“We still have a lot of work to do,”says Angela Somma, head of NOAAS Fisheries' endangered Species division.“But with the right protection, the number of humpback whales should continue to grow.
A. Those efforts to save whales are paying off.
B. People are frightened when seeing whales in the river.
C. Last year, one even swam past where the mayor lives.
D. Today there are about 100,000 humpback whales worldwide.
E. The extra food in the rivers is mainly what's attracting the whales.
F. Scientists have carried out further research on the number of the whales.
G. Scientists say that the focus needs to be on the whales that are still struggling.

根据空前“In the past years, humpback whales have been spotted in the two rivers surrounding the island of Manhattan, the Hudson River and the East River,”,在过去的几年里,在两条环绕曼哈顿岛,哈得孙河和东河的两条河流里,已经发现了驼背鲸鱼,而选项C中“Last year, one even swam past where the mayor lives.”,去年,有一只甚至从市长住的地方游过,在意思上正好与其相承接,故选C。
(2)考查对上下文的理解和推理判断能力。根据空前“Fish are on the humpback's menu.”,增加的鱼成了驼背鲸鱼的菜单,而选项E中“The extra food in the rivers is mainly what's attracting the whales.”,河中额外的食物是吸引鲸鱼的主要东西,这里“额外的食物”就是“增加的鱼”,故选E。
(3)考查对上下文的理解和推理判断能力。空前讲的都是人们为保护鲸鱼所作出的努力,空后“Last September, it was announced that nine groups of humpback whales are no longer endangered.”,去年九月宣布九组鲸鱼不再处于濒临灭绝的境地,故选A。
(4)考查对上下文的理解和推理判断能力。根据空后“The number of them…”,可知空格里应该填鲸鱼的数量,故选D。
(5)考查对上下文的理解和推理判断能力。根据空后““We still have a lot of work to do,”',说明对鲸鱼的保护工作目前做的还不够,而选项G“Scientists say that the focus needs to be on the whales that are still struggling.”,科学家们说注意力需要放在那些仍然处在困境中的鲸鱼们,在意思上正好相承接,故选G。

【题目】阅读理解
We all know the hard work that filmmakers and actors put in to provide us with entertainment, but it seems that even regular moviegoers like us have a big impact on how a movie turns out too.
For decades now, film studios have used so-called test screenings(试映)to get feedback from members of the public before a movie comes out.
While test audience members are usually asked to fill in a questionnaire after a screening, telling the film studio what they liked and didn't like, media giant Disney has come up with a more high-tech solution.
According to a paper published this summer by the company's researchers, Disney is measuring test audiences' reactions(反应) by using special cameras placed inside cinemas.
Pairing the cameras with custom(定制的) software, the company can track what each audience member is feeling at any point in the movie, from anger to joy.
This works by mapping 68 different points on each audience member's face. The cameras can see in the dark, and the software can figure out a person's mood based on the slightest of facial expressions.
It is hoped that this new method will allow more detailed feedback from test audiences. Rather than relying on audience members to recall their feelings after the movie's over, it can accurately read their reactions in real-time.
Test screenings are highly valued in the movie industry, and several well- known movies have been greatly altered following feedback.
Viewers of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial(1982) would have left the cinema feeling a whole lot differently if it weren't for its test audience's feedback.
"In one cut of the film that was tested, E.T. died instead of going home in his spaceship. You won't be surprised to hear that the test audience in question didn't warm to this ending at all," wrote media website Den of Geek.
But for those of us who are concerned about privacy, the cameras won't be installed in public cinemas.
After all, unless you're part of a test audience, being in front of the camera is best left to the movie stars.
(1)What is the main advantage that the cameras have over questionnaires?
A.They protect the audience's privacy better.
B.They allow the audience to recall their feelings more easily.
C.They are able to record the audience's mood accurately on the spot.
D.They can help audience members adjust their mood with custom software.
(2)With the example of E.T.the extra-Terrestrial (1982),the author intends to___________.
A.illustrate the significance of test screenings
B.emphasize the importance of altering a movie
C.show what kind of endings are better received by viewers
D.explain what kind of feedback could be accepted in test screenings
(3)What does the underlined word "alter" mean?
A.prefer
B.change
C.predict
D.adopt
(4)What is the author's attitude towards the cameras Disney researchers are using?
A.Positive
B.Indifferent
C.Negative
D.Neutral

【题目】根据短文理解,选择正确答案。
“Our aim is to take our art to the world and make people understand what it is to move,” said David Belle, the founder of parkour ( also called free running-a kind of extreme sport).
Do you love running? It is a good exercise, yet many people find it boring. But what if making your morning jog a creative one? Like jumping from walls and over gaps, and ground rolls? Just like the James Bond in the movie Casino Royale? Bond jumps down from a roof to a windowsill and then runs several blocks over obstacles on the way. It is just because of Bond's wonderful performances that the sport has become popular worldwide.
Yes, that's parkour, an extreme street sport aimed at moving from one point to another as quickly as possible, getting over all the obstacles in the path using only the abilities of the human body. Parkour is considered an extreme sport. As its participants dash around a city, they may jump over fences, run up walls and even move from rooftop to rooftop.
Parkour can be just as exciting and charming as it sounds, but its participants see parkour much more than that.Overcoming all the obstacles on the course and in life is part of the philosophy(理念) behind parkour. This is the same as life. You must determine your destination, go straight, jump over all the barriers as if in parkour and never fall back from them in your life, to reach the destination successfully. A parkour lover said, “I love parkour because its philosophy has become my life, my way to do everything.”
Another philosophy we've learnt from parkour is freedom. It can be done by anyone, at any time, anywhere in the world. It is a kind of expression of trust in yourself that you earn energy and confidence.

A.the film, Casino Royale

C.its risks and tricks
D.the varieties of participants
(2)The underlined word “obstacles” in Paragraph 2 is closest in meaning to“”.
