Johann Sebastian Bach
Johann Sebastian Bach was born in Germany in l685．Being a member of a large family of musicians，he naturally grew up loving music．His father played the violin，and his brothers played other musical insmnnents．
when he was l0，both of his parents died．He went to live with his brother，who taught him to play the harpsichord and organ．As he grew older，he became more and more interested in music．While studying at school，he also sang in the school choir．
At 22he married his cousin Mafia，and they had seven children．By the time he was 32，he had composed much of his best music，including The Brandenburg Concertos．
After his first wife had died in l720．Bach remarried and had thirteen more children．In all，he had 20children but only eight reached adulthood．By the time Bach died in l750，he had taught all his children to play musical instruments and several had already become well-known musicians．
George Gershwin
George Gershwin was bom in New York in l898．By the age of fourteen，he had taken piano lessons with five teachers and had learned to play better than all of them．While studying，he fell in love with classical and jazz music and began to compose music and write songs．
When Gershwin was fifteen，he left school and took a job in a music company．While he was working there，he met many famous musicians．
George became the most famous American composer and songwriter of the 1920s and l930s．By the time he was 38，he had written An American in Paris，which many people think is his best work for orchestra．He had also composed Shall We Dance．Having become rich and famous，he wrote Our Love Is Here to Stay in 1937．This was one of his best songs，but also one of his last songs．In the summer of 1937，while working in Hollywood，he became ill and died of cancer at the age of 39．
