3.Boys a bit different in USA
[1]HEY boys, attention please! If you want to go to the US one day, you'd better be fully prepared, because, well, you and the boys in the US are a bit different. In my opinion, you'd better try to do the following things.
[2]Firstly,know how to knot a tie (打领带).In the US,every boy above school age wears suits when they go to weddings (婚礼).My friend Madison from Virginia said it shows respect to others.Do you know how to ____________?Learn how!
[3]Secondly,be a gentleman.I know in China some boys are still proud of being strong. But in the US,a good man should also be polite. Here are two examples:holding the door for people behind you and giving the seat on a bus to old people.
[4]The last is to learn something about football and baseball.Chinese boys like ping-pong,basketball and soccer, but American boys love football and baseball. They get very happy when they play and watch these sports. It's not necessary to be a fan of football or fix (固定) your TV channel to baseball games. But in order to watch the sports with other boys,at least learning some rules would help.
[5]However,all this doesn't mean that the American way is always the right way.We sometimes need to know the importance of another culture, but don't feel you have to know that if it makes you uncomfortable.Have fun along the way!
76.Who might be the audience of this speech?(within 10 words)Chinese boys who may go to the US.
77.Please fill in the blank in Paragraph 2?(within 3 words)knot/wear a tie;tie a necktie
78.Which paragraph might the following example be put in?(within 2 words)"Men in the US like to follow the‘ladies first'rule."(Paragraph) 3.
79.What are the popular sports among American boys?(within 3 words)Football and baseball.
80.How do you understand the last paragraph?(within 15 words)It's helpful to do as the locals do,but it's not always necessary./We should know the importance of another culture, but we don't have to follow it..

分析 本文为说明文,文章介绍了美国男孩的一些穿衣打扮,生活习惯等.

解答 76.Chinese boys who may go to the US.
77.knot/wear a tie; tie a necktie
78.(Paragraph) 3.
79.Football and baseball.
80.It's helpful to do as the locals do,but it's not always necessary./We should know the importance of another culture, but we don't have to follow it.
解析:
76【答案】Chinese boys who may go to the US.推理判断题.根据第一段 If you want to go to the US one day,如果有一天你去美国,可得出答案.
77【答案】knot/wear a tie; tie a necktie.段落大意题.第二段主要介绍怎么系领带,故此空应填knot/wear a tie; tie a necktie.
78【答案】(Paragraph) 3.信息匹配题."Men in the US like to follow the‘ladies first'rule."句意为美国的男士遵守"女士优先"的原则.文章第三段主要介绍绅士的特点,故此句放在第三段合适.
79【答案】Football and baseball.细节理解题.根据第四段but American boys love football and baseball可知,美国男孩喜欢了足球和棒球.
80【答案】It's helpful to do as the locals do,but it's not always necessary./We should know the importance of another culture, but we don't have to follow it.细节理解题.最后一段提出作者的观点,尽管本文是介绍美国的文化特点,但是这并不代表你必须要完全遵守,此文的目的是让你了解,并不是必须按照这样来做.

[3]The 2nd goal that all of us have in common is to enjoy excellent relationships-intimate(亲密的),personal or social-with the people we like and respect, and who _____ in turn.Fully 85% of your happiness will be determined by the quality of your relationships at each stage, and in each area,of your life. How well you get along with people, and how much they like and respect you, have more impact on the quality of your life than perhaps any other factor.

13.I had lunch with a friend of mine the other day and she said something that I found surprising:"Work is paid slavery."My friend wanted more control over her work hours,income,etc.,but you can imagine that if"work is serving someone,"she won't have much luck until that belief changes.When I asked her where that belief came from,she said her father.
Most of us spend many of our waking hours at work.How we think about those hours will determine how good or bad we feel about our lives.
How would you complete the sentence:"Work is…"?How many of us say that work is fulfilling? How many say work is fun?
Changing Limiting Beliefs
Almost everyone I talk to has limiting beliefs about money or work.I worked with my friend using the walking belief change described in Debug Your Mental Software.When it came time to come up with a new belief,she struggled.She even asked me:"What's the opposite of slavery?"So strong was the old belief that she couldn't think of the opposite.
What's Your Work Belief?
If you think work is bad,you'll end up working in an unfulfilling job regardless of how much it pays.If you think work is freedom,you'll enjoy your work because it fulfills you.I call it"soul work."If you're doing the work you love,it will be energizing,freeing.
Much of our work ethic(职业道德规范) starts in childhood by watching our parents.How did they talk about work?Did they hate it,or did they love it?The truth is probably somewhere in between.Many of us say we don't want a job"like my parent had"or a job where they're stuck inside a small room.But many of us end up with jobs like that.Sometimes it's how we approach the tasks of our jobs that make the difference.
It's possible to make even the most ordinary job meaningful and fulfilling. If it isn't possible for you to do that, then it is time to think about"evolving out of the job".Sometimes just quitting a job because it's boring is the wrong thing to do,but thinking about where you want to be and if you need more education is a good idea.
Some young people seem to have trouble starting jobs or finishing college.Has our economy discouraged them?A recent movie I saw had a grown man (over thirty) telling his friends that he's a"stay-at-home-son."Truth is sometimes stranger than fiction.
I had breakfast at my local Perkins yesterday.Kristin took my order.She was bubbly and full of energy compared to the other waitresses.I watched as she remembered everything a family of four staying at a neighboring hotel had ordered the day before.Kristin loved people and loved her job.She has the kind of attitude and work ethic that employers crave.
What's your work belief?Does it limit you?Could you tune it up to live a better life right now?If most of us are going to spend 30years working,shouldn't we try to make it enjoyable?Could it be that work is freedom or right work is energizing or something even better?
