13.The Importance of Accessibility AwarenessAt a recent Teen Leadership of Jewish Family Services meeting, people with disabilities talked about their lives.(36)G However, what amazed me most was the great importance of education about handicap accommodations
One school-teacher who is blind, and a woman who has used a wheelchair all her life are two important members of the National Group for Disabled Persons, devoted to raising awareness about disabilities.(37)C These include handicap parking spots, handrails, and wheelchair ramps. One big concern is the people who take advantage of aids, such as handicap parking spaces.(38)F And the meeting focused on educating the public.
Some handicap spots have extra room next to them, marked with the"No Parking"signs."As long as I'm not in the spot,I can take the no-parking area next to it,"some people say. However, the woman who uses a wheelchair disagrees to this. The space exists to allow someone in a wheelchair to have room to get in or out of their car.(39)E
Some walkways have handrails next to them to help those who require extra assistance.Whether it is a blind person seeking guidance or an elderly person seeking support, the rail is there for walking.Sometimes the rail is blocked,by a parked bicycle for instance, and consequently made useless.(40)BPeople who are informed of the rail's use would be less likely to mistake it for a bike rack.
Meeting some of the people who are affected by the lack of education about accommodations made me see that there is work to be done.If more people were educated about the proper uses of accommodations, there would be fewer challenges for people with physical disabilities.
A.Accommodations will vary according to the needs of the disabled.
B.As with the parking spot, this is more likely a case of lack of education.
C.They educate about all the accommodations for people with disabilities.
D.Improvement must be made so that disabled people can fully participate.
E.If there is a car in that space, the handicap parking spot is no longer useful.
F.So people without disabilities need to be educated about these accommodations.
G.I was amazed to hear about the challenges faced by people with physical disabilities.

At a recent Teen Leadership of Jewish Family Services meeting, people with disabilities talked about their lives."在会议上残疾人谈论他们的生活."可知,G项"听到残疾人面临的挑战我感到很吃惊."符合语篇逻辑.选G.
37.C.推理判断题.根据下文中的"handicap parking spots,handrails and wheelchair ramps"可知,它们都属于残疾人的便利设施.选C.
38.F.推理判断题.前文One big concern is the people who take advantage of aids, such as handicap parking spaces提到一个很大的担忧就是人们占用残疾人便利设施.
The space exists to allow someone in a wheelchair to have room to get in or out of their car提到那个地方存在是为了让坐轮椅的人有空上下车.E项意为"如果那个地方有车,残疾人的停车点就不再有用了."
People who are informed of the rail's use would be less likely to mistake it for a bike rack可知,知道扶手用途的人是不大可能把它错认为是自行车架的.B项"至于占用停车位,很有可能是缺乏教育的结果."

A.Lend a hand. B.Keep your eyes open. C.Be seen, but not be heard. D.Make friends with your neighbors. E.Volunteer in your community. F.Keep your home safe and attractive. |
(71)C
No one likes a noisy neighbor.Do you hold parties that last all night?Do you leave your dog outside to bark all day?Remember that not everyone has the same schedule as you do,so use some common sense.Keep noise to the lowest level. If you're holding a party that's likely to be loud, invite everyone within earshot.
(72)D
It's much easier to solve any problem with neighbors if you have a friendly relationship with those around you.Furthermore, you may realize that you have things in common and make a lifelong friend.
(73)B
Once you know your neighbors, then you'll also know if something seems out of place in the neighborhood. Are strange people carrying expensive things out of one neighbor's house?Have several days passed since your elderly neighbor last collected his newspaper? The benefit of keeping an eye out for unusual behavior in the neighborhood is that others will do the same for you.
(74)A
It never hurts to follow the Golden Rule:Do to others what you would like them to do to you.Treat your neighbors with respect.Offer to drive an elderly neighbor to the grocery store.Volunteer to collect mail while a neighbor is on vacation. The more often you lend a helping hand, the more likely that your neighbors will do the same for you when you need a little help.
(75)E
Don't just limit your neighborly actions to your block or street.Remember that everyone who lives in a community has the ability to help make it a better place.Think about your passion and find a way to do it on a volunteer basis in your town.Volunteer at the local library.Enjoy working with kids.Consider becoming a scout leader.Whatever your passion is,there's sure to be a thing suitable for you to help in the local community.
