15.Teenagers at one German school are learning how to achieve happiness alongside other traditional subjects such as math and languages.The class sit in a circle with their eyes shut and they count from one to ten:someone starts,the next voice comes from the far right,a third from the other side.
The aim of the game is to listen for an opportunity to shout out the number without clashing (冲突) with another voice or leaving a pause.On the first try,most of the young Germans try to be first,while a few are too shy to join in,but by the fifth time round,they develop a rhythm (节奏).The message:give other people space but also confidently claim your own.This is a requirement for social well-being.
The Willy Hellpach School in Heidelberg is the first in the nation to develop a happiness course.
It is intended for students preparing for university entrance exams.
"The course isn't there to make you happy,"Ernst Fritz-Schubert,the school principal,warned pupils,"but rather to help you discover the ways to become happy."
Cooking a meal together is one of the class exercises.Improving body language under the guidance of two professional actresses is another.
The course is taught for three periods a week.Although it's the happy subject, the pupils themselves insist it is no laughing matter.
"In the first period,we had to each say something positive about another member of the class and about ourselves.No laughing at people,"said Fanny,17.
Research by the school shows it is not the first to start happiness classes:they also exist at some US universities, mainly based on positive thinking, using findings from studies of depression.

3.Can you imagine that several hundred years ago,tomatoes were seen as toxic food in Europe?
What made Europeans believe this was John Gerard's publication of Herbal in 1597.Gerard wrote:"The leaves and stalks of the tomato plant are toxic."Undoubtedly,Gerard's opinion was based on a misunderstanding of tomatoes.But his opinion was widely spread in Britain and North America for over two hundred years.
In the late 1700s,a lot of Europeans held more fears for tomatoes.A nick name for the fruit was"poison apple"because it was believed that aristocrats(贵族) got sick and died after eating them.But the actual reason was the pewter plates they used.Since tomatoes are high in acidity,when placed on the plates,the lead(铅) in the plates would dissolve.This caused many deaths.Unluckily,no one knew this at that time.So the innocent tomatoes were picked as the killer.
Today,more than one and a half billion tons of tomatoes are produced every year around the world.Tomatoes are cooked in various ways.This healthy and tasty food finally wins its innocence(清白) back.

10.With a large part of the world's population living close to the oceans,rising sea levels bring the potential for destructive (破坏性的)results.But scientists are stilt unable to make predictions exact enough for people to plan to handle the loss of land and the threat to coastal communities expected over this century.
"We know sea level is going to rise, but how much, and how fast, and where,we really still don't know,"said Josh Willis,a climate scientist.
The ocean isn't like water in a bathtub.It doesn't rise all the same as more water pours in.As global warming raises sea levels,some places are expected to see higher-than-average increases,and a few places,may even see decreases.
It's repotted that over the course of this century,sea levels will rise between 8inches and 6.6feet around the planet.Scientists know this increase will be driven by the expansion of water as it warms-warmer water takes up more space-and the melting of ice.But the effects of warming water and melting ice on sea-level rise are expected to vary from area to area.And the melting of ice of the Antarctic and Greenland presents the largest uncertainty for the future,but air,land and water also play roles in changes to sea level.For example,sea level near the ice getting melt actually decreases,because the ground under the melting ice rises as the heavy ice disappears.
Climate change is expected to change ocean currents and the winds that help drive ocean currents.These changes will affect the distribution of heat within the oceans,and,as a result,affect changes in sea level.
Nowadays,scientists use two types of models to make predictions about the future of sea levels,but the two don't agree.If scientists can't accurately predict sea-level increase for the coming years,the least we can do is measure what happening today with the help of the satellite,Jason-2,but it's reaching the end of its operational life.
62.The first paragraph implies thatD.
A.the rising sea levels mainly happens near the coast
B.people living in coastal communities have to move
C.scientists have ways to handle the rising sea levels
D.coastal cities are easily affected by the rising sea levels
63.What does the writer mean by saying"The ocean isn't like water in a bathtub"in the third paragraph?A
A.The rising sea level is hard to tell.
B.The ocean can be easily controlled.
C The ocean isn't equal to a bathtub in size.
D.There is too much water for us to control.
64.According to the text,which of the following shows the right cause and effect?B
①climate change; ②ocean currents; ③the winds; ④changes in sea level; ⑤the distribution of heat
A.①→②→③→④→⑤
B.①→③→②→⑤→④
C.③→④→⑤→②→①
D.①→⑤→③→②→④
65.What problems will scientists meet with in predicting future climate changes?C
A.It's too difficult to measure what's happening.
B.Types of models for prediction are difficult to set up.
C.There will probably be no satellites to help the scientists.
D.There aren't enough scientists studying the changes of sea levels.
