Underwater Ice Hockey(曲棍球)is a new sport that began in Austria and is increasingly popular among free divers.

Not to be confused with underwater hockey, which is played in indoor swimming pools, underwater ice hockey is practiced in a 6 meters wide by 8 meters long place under the icy surface of a frozen lake. After cutting a square hole in the thick ice, players wearing wetsuits, which are worn in cold water, try to move a puck(冰球)into their competitor's goal.Think of it as an upside-down game of hockey.

Underwater ice hockey players need to have excellent breath-holding abilities, considering they are not allowed to play with any kind of breathing equipment.Considering matches can get pretty physical, players need to surface about every 30 seconds for a breath of fresh air.Divers can easily get lost during a game.In case one of them is too tired to reach the hole,or can't find it,four divers equipped with oxygen tanks watch every match.Underwater ice hockey periods last 10 minutes, and players are allowed 10-minute breaks to warm up.

The world's first ever Underwater Ice Hokey World Cup was held in Weissensee,Austria and was won by a team from Finland.Because of the special conditions it's played in,fans present at the scene have to watch the underwater action on monitors.

2.Four divers equipped with oxygen tanks are around to .

3.People who want to watch underwater ice hockey should .

The First Rule of Finance is to live within your means by spending no more than 80% of your take-home pay.If you take home $ 100 per week, spend no more than $80.

But ever look at what people spend their money on? I have relatives and friends deeply in debt, spending $ 12 for every $ 10 they earn instead of the $ 8 you know they should be spending. When I see them, they're proud of their new whatever."What do you think of my new truck?" asked one from the driver's seat."Do you like my new shoes?" asked another on high heels."Check out my new big screen." said a third while holding the remote in his living room. We've all heard people fishing for compliments on their new toys.

Every one of them was proud of what they'd financed. They seem to have bought it for the purpose of being proud, of showing off, of keeping up with the Joneses."Look at my new …?"is everybody's favorite phrase, even when the object in question isn't theirs at all and won't be new when they've finally paid for it, if they ever do.

They're proud of being stupid. They think it's cool to drive the financed car, wear the financed shoes, and watch the financed TV, but to smart people, whose opinions are the only ones we should respect, these people look dumb as rocks.

The Joneses, nine times out of 10, are financially stupid. That's why they have all that stuff on borrowed money. Why try to copy them? Worse, why try to impress them? Copy and impress smart people, the ones who own their stuff. If you want to impress smart people, debt is the last way to go about it.Trying to impress a money-smart person by going into debt is like trying to impress Olympic swimming champion Michael Phelps by drowning in a pool.Michael Phelps is impressed by good swimming and a money-smart person by good money management.

1.According to the author, the "new toys" in Paragraph 2 are examples of______.

A. symbol of wealth B. unnecessary purchases

C. impressive stuff D. things available

2.The underlined words "smart people" in Paragraph 4 refer to people ______.

A. having high IQs B. earning enough money

C. creating new ideas D. managing money well

3.The author is trying to ______.

A. advise people to be money-smart

B. persuade people to keep off fashions

C. blame people for copying others

D. criticize people for over consumption

4.According to the author, buying new objects on borrowed money is ________.

A. unwise B. shameful

C. understandable D. impressive

Building Trust in a Relationship Again

Trust (信任)is a learned behavior(习得行为) that we gain from past experiences(以往经历). 1.Trust is a risk. But you can’t be successful when there’s a lack of trust in a relationship that results from an action where the wrongdoer takes no responsibility to fix the mistake.

Unfortunately,we’ve all been victims of betrayal(背信).Whether we’ve been stolen from, lied被欺骗 to,misled被误导,or cheated on被哄骗,there are different levels of losing trust.Sometimes people simply can’t trust anymore(有时候人们就是不能再信任别人). 2. It’s understandable(可理解的),but if you’re willing to build trust in a relationship(人际关系) again,we have some steps you can take to get you there.

3. Having confidence in yourself will help you make better choices because you can see what the best outcome结果 would be for your well-being幸福.

4.If you’ve been betrayed(如果你遭遇了背叛),you are the victim(受害者) of your circumstance(客观环境).But there’s a difference between being a victim and living with a “victim mentality”(“受害者的心态”).At some point in all of our lives,we’ll have our trust tested or violated. 被破坏

You didn’t lose “everything”.Once trust is lost, what is left? Instead of looking at the situation from this hopeless angle角度,look at everything you still have and be thankful for all of the good in your life.5.Instead,it’s a healthy way to work through the experience to allow room余地 for positive growth and forgiveness(宽恕).

A.Learn to really trust yourself.

B.It is putting confidence in someone(对某人寄托信任).

C.Stop regarding yourself as the victim.

D.Remember that you can expect the best in return.

AB.They’ve been too badly hurt and they can’t bear to let it happen again. .(他们曾经受过严重伤害,不能容忍这种事情再次发生。)

AC.This knowledge carries over in their attitude toward their future relationships.

AD.Seeing the positive(积极的) side of things doesn’t mean you’re ignoring(忽视) what happened.

Nothing succeeds like success, as every parent of a straight-A student knows, but trying to highlight academic excellence by telling your child, "You're so smart," may be counterproductive(负效的). Telling kids they're smart strengthens the idea that intelligence is a genetic gift rather than a skill that can be developed.

In a recent study, researchers at Michigan State University looked at 123 children who were about 7. The team assessed the children to determine whether they had a "growth mindset(思维模式)" (believing that you can work harder to get smarter), or a "fixed mindset"(believing that your intelligence is unable to change). They then asked the children to complete a fast-paced computer accuracy task while their brain activity was recorded. In the task, children played a game, helping a zookeeper capture escaped animals by pressing the space bar when an animal showed up in their screen—unless it was a group of three chimps. During the recording, researchers noted that brain activity spiked within a half-second after making a mistake, as children became aware of their error and paid closer attention to what went wrong. The larger the brain response, the more the children focused on the error.

Based on the data they collected, the researchers concluded that children with a "growth mindset" were much more likely to have a larger brain response after making a mistake, and in turn were more likely to improve their performance by paying closer attention to the task after making an error.

For parents, the lessons are clear: don't pay compliments(赞扬) that suggest that intelligence is fixed. If a child hands you an A+ test, don't say, "You're so smart!" Instead say, "Wow, that studying really paid off!" Note the effort, not the intelligence. Second, focus on using errors to work together and learn. "Many parents and teachers shy away from addressing a child's mistakes, telling them "It's OK. You'll get it next time." without giving them the opportunity to figure out what went wrong." Dr. Schroder says. Here are additional ways you can help enhance your child's education.

1.What can learn about children's mindset from the study?

A. Children are born with a fixed or growth mindset.

B. Children with a fixed mindset pay no attention to mistakes.

C. Children with a growth mindset are more likely to make progress.

D. Children with a growth mindset can catch more animals in the game.

2.Which of the following has the closest meaning with the underlined word in Paragraph 2?

A. started B. stopped

C. paused D. rose

3.What should parents say to children's performance according to the passage?

A. "You are so clever!" for excellence.

B. "It's not good enough." for excellence.

C. "You can benefit from it." for a mistake.

D. "It's OK. Forget about it." for a mistake.

4.What would be the best title for the passage?

A. Never Call Your Kid Smart

B. Always Be Strict with Your Kid

C. How to Communicate with Your Kid

D. How to Comment on Your Kid's Performance

Easy Ways to Reach and Keep a Healthy Weight

Weight loss is most likely to be successful when people change their habits, replacing old, unhealthy ones with new, healthy ones. Here are 5 ways to make that happen.

1.Exercises.

1. Walking the family dog, cycling to school and doing other things that increase your daily level of activity can all make a difference. If you want to burn more calories, increase the intensity of your workout and add some strength exercise to build muscles. The more muscle you have, the more calories you burn, even when you aren't exercise.

2. 2.

One reason people get less exercise these days is an increase in screen time-- the amount of time spent watching TV, surfing the Internet or playing video games. Limit recreational screen time to less than 2 hours per day.

3. Watch out for sugary drinks.

One key factor in weight gain is that some people drink lots of sugary drinks, such as soda, juice drinks and sports drinks. 3.

4. Eat 5 servings of fruit and vegetables a day.

4. They're also packed with fiber, which means they can fill you up. And when you fill yourself up on fruit and vegetables, you are less likely to overeat when it comes to high-calorie foods like chips and cookies.

5. 5.

Breakfast can promote your metabolism(新陈代谢), burning calories and giving you energy to do more during the day. People who skip(跳过) breakfast often feel so hungry that they eat more later on. So they get more calories than they would have if they didn't eat breakfast.

A. Reduce screen time.

B. Don't skip breakfast.

C. So go for water or low-fat milk instead of sugary drinks.

D. Diets aren't the way to go when it comes to losing weight.

E. Fruit and vegetables are about more than just vitamins and minerals..

F. Most dieters gain back all the lost weight when they go back to their old eating habits.

G. Regular physical activity burns calories and builds muscles, both of which help you look and feel good and keep weight off.
