What a wonderful day for skating !My friends and I went skating on yesterday.When we arrived we found a lot of people were already here.My friend was very poor at skating but was afraid of skating alone .He held onto my arm and walks slowly and carefully, whenever someone passed by his body rocked violent as if he was about fall . I took hold of him many times so as he wouldn’t fall .He kept trying and gradually should skate alone . Then we skated together freely,laugh with joy and excitement .We felt so great!

Of all the books I've read,I like Robinson Crusoe best,that is one of the famous British writer Daniel Defoe's greatest work.The main character of the novel is Robinson Crusoe,who was trapped on a disaster during a boat tour. He had to swim to a lonely island and lived there for many years.There were no other people on a remote island,and there was no food for him.He fight against various natural disasters and diseases alone brave.He tried his best to overcoming all the difficulties and saved finally.After reading the novel,I am really moved by Robinson Crusoe's spirit,which has been taught me that something is difficult if you go with courage.

Everybody in this world is different from one another. But do you know that understanding differences can help you better manage your money?

As we grow up, we gradually develop a set of our own values or beliefs. These are influenced by society, our family, the education we receive and so on. Once this value system is set up, it’s not easy to change later in life.

The ant --work first

The cricket（蟋蟀）--fun first

The cricket wants to enjoy everything now and doesn’t think too much about the future. They even borrow money when they really want something. Many young people now belong to this group. These people have little savings(存款). When they get old, they might have problems. They should learn to save and buy insurance.

The snail (蜗牛)--living under pressure

The snail refers to people who make life difficult for themselves. They take big long-term loans（贷款） from the bank in order to buy things such as luxury houses. They are happy to take big loans even though they are not sure if they can afford it. This can cause problems in the future. They should plan more carefully.

It was 9:00 am already! Richard had to leave for work! Before leaving he hurriedly looked at the newspaper and stood still! Was he seeing it right? He rubbed his eyes and saw again… Yes, it was his name in the obituary(讣告)! He threw the paper in the bin and screamed.

Richard started to recollect. He remembered that last night when he went to bed he had a chest pain and he was rushed to hospital. Then he went into a sound sleep. But what happened after that?

No one can believe that the over 6 300-kilometer long Great Wall might disappear some day. Believe it or not, the Great Wall is being destroyed by people. Less than 20 percent of the Great Wall built in the Ming Dynasty is still perfect, but about 80 percent is in danger. The Great Wall can be called “great” mostly because of its amazing length. But we should realize that the length was made up of one brick at a time. If we do nothing to save the Great Wall, it will become a series of separate wasteland rather than a historic site.

The Great Wall is actually a series of walls built and rebuilt by different dynasties over the past 2 000 years. It began in the rule of China’s first emperor, Qin Shihuang of the Qin Dynasty(221 BC～206 BC), and lasted into the Ming Dynasty. The parts built before the Ming Dynasty have nearly disappeared. People are familiar with sections such as Badaling in Beijing and Jiayuguan Pass in Gansu because they have been open to tourists for many years. But those sections far away from the public eyes have been almost forgotten.

Few local people knew the 3-meter-high walls made of earth and stones beside them are part of the Great Wall. The lack of knowledge is considered as one of the main reasons behind human.

The bricks on the Great Wall are carried off by countryside people to build their houses, sheep corral(畜栏) and pigsties(猪圈). Some were taken away to build roads. Bricks carved with people’s names are put away as remembrance. Rubbish is spread over the battlements(城垛). The bricks can be sold for 15 yuan per tractor load. Those who destroyed and are destroying the Great Wall know its name, but are not clear about its cultural meaning. It will take a long time to let them know this. The local farmers not only carried off the body of the Wall but dug out the entire base.

What is success? I am not going to try to explain success. I think a precise meaning is impossible! Is it winning a Gold Medal at the Olympic Games or winning Wimbledon, or being awarded a Nobel Prize? What else? I believe personal success could be anything at all- it does not have to involve public recognition. Who is more successful? A millionaire who is unhappy, or an unnoticed person, who has led a simple, quiet, sincere and happy life? The simplest definition of success, I think, is “to set out to do something and to succeed in doing it.

The first step on the road to success starts with belief. Believe you can succeed and you will. Achieving success in whatever endeavor(努力)you choose may be the goal of life; because it gives you freedom from worry. Could that be?

Success means different things to every one of us. Some people believe it is measured in financial term; others believe it is helping others rather than helping themselves. However, most people are motivated to a great extend by public recognition. How many people are really happy? How many people are really doing what they want to with their lives? Incidentally, to imagine makes us different from animals.

Most important of all, I believe success is a matter of personal growth. If every day you are developing or growing just a millimeter, I believe one is successful. Just being a slightly better person each day for me is success. I’ve got a very long way to go them!

Finally, always remember success is a process and is not simply a matter of arriving at a destination. It’s the journey that really matters. Success is what you become in the often very difficult and dangerous journey down the river of life.
