As the population of the planet increases, so does the number of homes, business, parking lots, schools, airports and roadways. All these structures use electricity and need to be lighted. Humans demand light. They want their homes more comfortable and they want their streets safe. The problem is that researchers are finding that all the light is having a negative effect on humans and wildlife as well.

Less than 10 years ago I drove to a thinly populated section of my own, lay down in the middle of the road and watched an attractive meteor shower(Á÷ÐÇÓê). If I did that today, I wouldn¡¯t be able to see the meteor shower.

Nowadays scientists are finding light pollution can be almost as bad as carbon dioxide £¨¶þÑõ»¯Ì¼£©pollution. One of the saddest parts of light pollution is that most of it is unnecessary and most of the outdoor light that we use is wasted. One only needs to look at a row of street lights to see how much of the lights shines upwards and lights the sky: a total waste of electricity.

Additionally, the production of electricity creates pollution by releasing greenhouse gases. This affects the air we breathe and our quality of life.

Scientists are also studying the effects of light pollution on wildlife. Thousands of birds die each year when they crash into highly lighted buildings, as they become puzzled by the light. It has been long known that tiny baby sea turtles become lost and follow the light on the shore instead of heading towards the sea.

Fortunately, light pollution is one of the easiest sources of pollution that can be corrected without a negative effect. Following some guidelines and a little searching on Google can give you many ideas on how to reduce your contribution to light pollution.

A. Astronauts can¡¯t see clearly in space nowadays

B. Global warming results in light pollution in some way

C. We are almost at a loss how to deal with light pollution

3.What will probably be provided following the last paragraph?

A. Benefits of searching on Google

B. More bad effects of light pollution

C. Helpful tips for suffering the Internet

D. Ways to decrease light pollution

Li Daiyu and her cousin Liu Qian were on a trip to Canada to visit their cousins on the Atlantic coast. Rather than take the aeroplane all the way, they decided to fly from China to Vancouver and to take the train from west to east across Canada in September. The idea that they would cross the whole continent was exciting.

Their friend, Danny Lin, was waiting for them at the airport. He was going to take them to catch ¡®The True North¡¯, the cross-Canada train. On the way to the station, he told them, ¡®You¡¯re going to see great scenery on your trip. Canada is bigger than the United States. It is second biggest country in the world and as you go eastward, you will see mountains and pass thousands of lakes, forests and wide rivers as well as cities. The idea that you can cross Canada in less than five days is just wrong. It is 5,500 kilometres from coast to coast. Here in Vancouver, you are in the warmest part of Canada. Many people think it is the most beautiful city in Canada, as it is surrounded by mountains on the north and east and the Pacific Ocean on the west. Its population is increasing very rapidly, because the mountain-and-sea city is a very popular place to live in. Even people from Japan come to settle down here.

That afternoon on the train the cousins settled down in their seats. They crossed the Rocky Mountains earlier that day and looked out of the windows at the wild scenery. They saw mountain goats and even a grizzly bear. Their next stop would be Calgary. The Calgary Stampede is a famous Western festival, Cowboys come from all over North America to compete in riding wild horses. That night, they slept as the train rushed through the night across the top of Lake Superior. through the great forests and southward towards Toronto.

How to Have a Successful Remote Interview?

If interviews make you nervous, the thought of doing one remotely might be a relief. 1. Even if your interviewer may have a hard time seeing you sweat, they will still ask questions. Think of a phone or video interview as an extra opportunity to impress. If you create a genuine connection with someone without being in the same place as them, chances are they¡¯ll trust your ability. 2.

¡ñ Test your equipment.

3. For a video interview, it¡¯s important to do a trial run in advance, since they can be especially troublesome. ¡°These are live, so it¡¯s very important to test your connection ahead of time,¡± says Scott Dobroski, the director of Corporate Communication at Glassdoor.

¡ñ 4.

You don¡¯t want your interviewer to think you¡¯re in an underground place. So skip the dark, dull mood lighting. Pick a spot where the light is facing you and try to set yourself up in a relaxing atmosphere and at a comfortable distance. Ideally, have slightly an inch of space above your head.

¡ñ Take your time.

A common mistake people make is cutting someone else off in conversation. This is even easier to do when you can¡¯t see the person you¡¯re talking to. So even if it feels slightly unnatural, wait for a while after your interviewer finishes a sentence. 5. He may understand why. But you don¡¯t want to come across as rushing the conversation or being more interested in hearing yourself talk than establishing a connection.

A.Get the atmosphere right.

B.But you should still take them seriously.

C.Here are three tips to make the whole process go smoothly.

D.Buy a phone or video before you have the interview.

E.Gutting him off a time or two might not be a big problem.

F.Make sure that your phone is charged and your Wi-Fi works.

G.Your interviewer will be happy to see you cut him off.
