【题目】We see the world in three dimensions. Now, we can print in three dimensions, too, thanks to a manufacturing process: 3D printing.

3D printing or additive manufacturing is a process of making three dimensional solid objects from a digital file.

The creation of a 3D printed object is achieved using additive processes. In an additive process an object is created by laying down successive (连续的) layers of material until the object is created. Each of these layers can be seen as a thinly sliced horizon till (水平的) cross-section of the eventual object. Today’s 3D printers are being used to print everything from design models to jewelry, crafts, product parts, body parts, and even food.

3D printing starts with making a virtual design of the object you want to create. This virtual design is for instance a CAD (Computer Aided Design) file. This CAD file is created using a 3D modeling application or with a 3D scanner (to copy an existing object). A 3D scanner can make a 3D digital copy of an object.

You will have to prepare a 3D model before it is ready to be 3D printed. This is what they call slicing. Slicing is dividing a 3D model into hundreds or thousands of horizontal layers and needs to be done with software.

Sometimes a 3D model can be sliced from within a 3D modeling software application. It is also possible that you are forced to use a certain slicing tool for a certain 3D printer.

When the 3D model is sliced, you are ready to feed it to your 3D printer. This can be done via USB. SD or WiFi. It really depends on what brand and type 3D printer you have.

When a file is uploaded in a 3D printer, the object is ready to be 3D printed layer by layer. The 3D printer reads every slice (2D image) and creates a three dimensional object.

Before you pick up a 3D printer and experimenting in the 3D world, consider how big the objects you might want to create. If your goal is to print foot-long rulers, you’ll fall short of that goal if the printer you choose can only handle objects smaller 6 inches in height and width.

Another reality check is print speed. You’ll be able to knock out a day’s worth of chores (琐事) while the printer is running, with a typical 4-inch model requiring as many as 12 hours to print. As with ordinary printers, print speed also depends on how well it prints.

Title: A Beginners’ Guide to 3D Printing

What is 3D printing?

3D printing is a process of making three-dimension objects out of a digital file.

An object created with 3D printing 1 of a number of layers of material.

How does 3D printing 2?

The first 3is to make a virtual design of your 4 object.

A 5 3D model is sliced into a huge number of layers with software or some 6 for a certain 3D printer.

The sliced model is 7 to a 3D printer

The 3D printer 8 the layers into an entire object step by step.

What else do you need to know?

The9of what you intend to make is a factor in your choice of a 3D printer.

Print speed is associated with print 10.

【题目】Whenever the sun dropped and the blue sky came up, my father and I used to climb the mountain near my house. Walking together, my father and I used to have a lot of conversations through which I learned lessons from his experiences. He always told me, “You should have goals like climbing the mountain. ” without the mountain-climbing that we both enjoyed, we couldn’t have enough time to spend together because my father was very busy. I really got a lot from mountain-climbing. It gave me time to talk with my father and to be in deep thought as well as develop my patience.

Once we climbed a very high mountain. It was so challenging for me because I was only ten years old. During the first few hours of climbing, I enjoyed the flowers and trees, and the birds’ singing, but as time passed, I got a pain in both of my legs. I wanted to quit climbing. In fact, I hated it at that mountain, but my father said to me, “You can always see a beautiful sky at the top of the mountain, but you can’ t see it before you reach the top. Only there at the top can you see all of the nice things, just like in life. ”

At that time, I was too young to understand his words. But later after that, I got new hope and confidence. I found myself standing at the top of the sky, which was as clear as crystal.

【题目】People and animals often enjoy loving relationships with each other. When people adopt domesticated(家养的) animals into their families as pets, animals give humans the blessings of companionship and fun in return. In the wild, animals sometimes carry out dramatic rescues of people in dangerous situations, miraculously(奇迹般地) sensing human needs and jumping in without fear to help.

In 2000, a 6-year-old boy named Elian Conzalez left Cuba on a boat bound for Florida in the United States, but the boat sank and everyone aboard drowned except for Elian and two adults. Elian and the other two survivors held onto inner tuber for 48 hours to try to stay afloat in the sea. After a while, however, Elian began to lose strength, slipping under the water and then grabbing the tube again as he fought to stay alive.

A small group of dolphins noticed Elian struggling and swan over to him to help. The dolphins formed a circle around the inner tube and took turns using their noses to lift Elian until fishermen working in the area discovered and rescued Elian and the two adults who floated nearby. The fishermen reported that, when they discovered Elian, he was repeating a prayer that his mother had taught him before drowning, asking guardian angels to protect him.

Miraculously, the dolphins knew that a child would need more help than adults, so they focused on Elian —and they figured out exactly what needed to be done and cooperated carry out that plan successfully. They made it!

【题目】阅读理解
One night in February 1962, John H. Glenn. Jr., flew over Australia. The man in the Mercury(水星) capsule(宇宙飞行容器)was alone, but friendly voices reached him by radio. On the dark land 100 miles below, he saw a sprinkling of light. They marked the city of Perth, where people had turned on their lights as a greeting to him.
In Friendship7, Glenn radioed, “ The lights show up very well. Thank for everybody for turning them on.” His capsule raced on to the east.
During his three orbits of the earth, Glenn could always reach one of eighteen tracking stations. Some of them were on ship at sea. Others were in the United States.
Many of the stations had been built with the help of other countries. These countries allowed Americans to bring in radio equipment and set it up. Without the help of such lands as Nigeria(尼日利亚), Zanzibar(尚巴西,坦桑尼亚领土的一部分), and Mexico, there would have been breaks in the worldwide radio network.
John H. Glenn. Jr., was the first America to orbit the earth. For his flight, the tracking network(跟踪网络) covered 60,000 route miles. Five hundred men worked in the stations along the route. Since his flight, the network has grown. Today, it covers more than 100,000 route miles and has about one hundred stations. One-third of these stations are outside of the United States.

(3)During his flight Glenn could always ___________.
A.reach one of the tracking stations
B.see lights turned on on the ground
C.reach ships at sea
D.arrive at Mercury in his Friendship7
(4)Why did people in Perth turn on the lights?
A.They wanted guide him to land.
B.It was too dark for them to see in the room.
C.They wanted to greet Glenn.
D.They wanted to see the Friendship7.
