I really love my job because I enjoy working with small children and like the challenges and awards from the job. I also think my work is important. There was a time when I thought I would never have that sort of career.

I wasn’t an excellent student because I didn’t do much schoolwork. In my final term I started thinking what I might do and found I didn’t have much to offer. I just accepted that I wasn’t the type to have a career.

I then found myself a job — looking after two little girls. It wasn’t too bad at first. But the problems began when I agreed to live in so that I would be there if my boss had to go out for business in the evening. We agreed that if I had to work extra hours one week, she’d give me time off the next. But unfortunately, it didn’t often work out. Last weekend, I went to visit my uncle in Qingdao with my parents. They took the train and

got here on Friday afternoon. It was comfortable train ride and we enjoyed the wonderful view

along the railway. On Saturday, it rains a lot, so we had to stay at home. While the adults were

chatting, I played card with my cousins. Unluckily, it was sunny on Sunday. We went to the beach

together but played in the water. The beautiful sea and fresh air made us very happily and relaxed.

How a wonderful experience! I hope for to be close to the sea again.

Welcome to Marksdale State Park

Where fun, fitness, and education come together

Don’t miss our new summer classes available during May 23- Aug 5!

Swimming lessons: Ages 4—adult. Cost: $ 5 per class or $ 15 for one month.

Hiking: Have a state park keeper hike through our paths with you and teach you about the park’s wildlife and plants.

Soccer: Our youth soccer program is unusual in that it is non-competitive. Different teams are formed every day. The focus is on each player learning to work as a team, not on one team winning it all.

Boating: These classes are only for 20-year-olds and above. Fishing is only allowed with a permit.

Bicycling: We have special paths built for bicyclists. Signs are posted for self-guided tours of our park. Group cycling is also available with a park guide. Paths range from easy to challenging.

Hiking paths! Sport fields! Playgrounds! Campgrounds! Fun activities! Located on McQueeney, Marksdale State Park offers something for everyone. Last month the Students’ Union of our school organize an English Speech Competition. At first I didn’t show some interest and wasn’t very much confident. Then my English teacher Mr Smith encouraged me. Inspiring by my teacher, I signed up for the competition and made fully preparations for it. Two weeks later the time I had been looking forward to coming and it was his turn. Glancing at my teacher’s smiling face, I built up my confidence and I was one of the winner.

But my teacher’s encouragement, I couldn’t have won the first prize. I’m proud of Mr Smith or the wonderful experience.
