1.How do you improve your English speaking skills,so that you can communicate more easily and effectively? These tips will help you to become a more confident speaker.
Practice where you can and when you can.Any practice is good---whether you
speak to someone who is a native English speaker or not.
It's important to build your confidence. If possible, use simple sentence structure that you know is correct so that you can concentrate on getting your message across.
Try to experiment with the English you know.Apply words and phrases you know to new situations.Native English speakers are more likely to correct you if you use the wrong word than if you use the wrong grammar.Experimenting with vocabulary is a really good way of getting feedback(反馈)
Try to respond to what people say to you.You can often get clues to what people think by looking at their body language.Respond to them in a natural way.
Try not to translate into and from your own language. It takes too much time and you will find it difficult to get an English answer right away. You don?t know how to do well. The more you want to act well, the more slowly you act. This will make you more shilly-shally.
If you forget a word,do what native English speakers do all the time, and say things that‘fill'the conversation. This is better than remaining completely silent.Try using‘um',or‘er',if you forget the word.
Don't speak too fast! It?s important to use a natural rhythm in speaking English, but if you speak too fast it will be difficult for people to understand you.
Try to relax when you speak and you,11 find that your mouth does most of the pronunciation work for you.Speak English at normal speed.Final tips
-Try to become less hesitant and more confident.
-Don't be shy to speak------the more you do it,the more confident you,11 become.
-Remember to be polite------use"please"and"thank you"if you ask someone to
do something for you.
60.What is the passage mainly about?B
A.Good ways of studying English well.
B.Suggestions on becoming a confident speaker.
C.Things to pay attention to when learning English.
D.How to correct your mistakes as you speak English.
61.How many tips does the author offer in the passage?C
A.9.   B.10.   C.11.   D.12.
62.The underlined word"shilly-shally"means in the passageD.
A.sure about what to do
B.fast to make a good decision
C.successful in answering some questions
D.uncertain about how to express oneself
63.Which of the following will the writer agree with?B
A.It's not necessary to pay attention to others?body language.
B.It doesn't matter that you forget a word when you are speaking.
C.When practising English, you must talk with native English speakers.
D.Native English speakers will correct your grammar mistakes when you speak.
18.Have you ever noticed what happens to an idea once you express it?Just talking about it or writing it down causes you to make it clear in your own mind.How can you use this to increase your brain power?Start writing.
By putting thoughts into words,you are telling yourself the logic (逻辑) behind what you think,feel,or only partly understand.Often,explaining a thought is the process of understanding.In other words,you increase your brain power by exercising your"explain power."
Try this experiment.Explain how you'll increase your brain power,even if you have no idea how right now.Just start with anything,and create an explanation.For example,start with"I'll learn chess,"or"I'll read an article on the mind every week."Explain how that will help.You'll be surprised how often this becomes a workable plan,and if you actually do this,you'll have a better understanding of your brain twenty minutes from now.
Another benefit of writing is that it helps you remember.Many,if not most,highly productive people are always taking notes.You can try keeping it all in your head,but if you keep a journal of your ideas the next time you're working on a big project,you'll probably have more success.
Want to understand a topic?Write a book about it.That's an extreme example,but if you are learning something new,write a letter to a friend about it,and you will understand it better.Want to invent something?Write an explanation of the problem,why you want to solve it,and why it is worth solving,and ou're half-way there.
Writers don't always write because they clearly understand something beforehand.Often,they write about something because they want to understand it.You can do the same.Writing will help bring you to an understanding.Give it a try.

A study into how lazy British people are has found more than half of adults are so lazy they'd catch the lift rather than climb two flights of stairs.
Just over 2000people were quizzed by independent researchers at Nuffield Health,Britain's largest health charity.The results were astonishing.
About one in six people surveyed said if their remote control was broken, they would continue watching the same channel rather than get up.
More than one third of those questioned said they would not run to catch a bus.Worryingly,of the 654respondents with children,64% said they were often too tired to play with them.
This led the report to conclude that it's no wonder that one in six children in the UK are classified as obese (very fat) before they start school.
Dr Sarah Dauncey, medical director of Nuffield Health, said:"People need to get fitter, not just for their own sake, but for the sake of their families, friends and evidently their pets too.
"If we don't start to take control of this problem,a whole generation will become too unfit to perform even the most  rudimentary of tasks."
And Scotland's largest city,Glasgow,was shamed as the most inactive city in the UK,with 75% surveyed admitting they do not get enough exercise,followed closely by Birmingham and Southampton,both with 67%.
The results cause serious challenges for the National Health Service,where obesity-related illnesses such as heart disease and cancer have been on a steady increase for the past 40years and are costing billions of pounds every year.

61.What causes children in the UK to be obese?D
A.Eating ready meal             B.Watching TV
C.Doing Internet shopping       D.Being lazy
62.What can be inferred from the passage?D
A.British people are too lazy to do anything.
B.Internet shopping will do harm to your health.
C.Many people would not run to catch a bus in Britain.
D.People should be more active and take regular exercise to keep fit.
63.Which of the following is Not true according to the passage?A
A.One sixth of British people use remote control when watching TV.

65.All the following are among the most lazy cities in the UK exceptC.
A.Glasgow    B.Birmingham     C.Nuffield     D.Southampton.
15.What makes it rain?Rain falls from clouds for the same reason anything falls to Earth.The Earth's gravity pulls it.But every cloud is made of water droplets or ice crystal(冰晶).Why doesn't rain or snow fall constantly from all clouds?The droplets or ice crystals in clouds are extremely small.The effect of gravity on them is slight.Air currents move and lift droplets so that the net downward amount of water is zero,even though the droplets are moving constantly.
It can be seen that droplets and ice crystals behave somewhat like dust in the air in a beam of sunlight. To the casual observer, dust seems to act in a totally random fashion, moving about
without fixed direction.But in fact dust particles(分子) are much larger than water droplets and they finally fall.The average size of a cloud droplet is only 0.0004inch in diameter(直径).It is so small that it would take sixteen hours to fall half a mile in perfectly still air,and it doesn't fall out of moving air at all.Only when the droplet grows to a diameter of 0.008inch or larger can it fall from the cloud.The average raindrop contains a million times as much water as a tiny cloud droplet.The growth of a cloud droplet to a size larger enough to fall out is the cause of rain and other forms of precipitation.This important growth process is called"coalescence".

2.That cold January night,I was growing sick of my life in San Francisco. There I was walking home at one in the morning after a tiring practice at the theater. With opening night only a week away,I was still learning my lines.I was having trouble dealing with my part-time job at the bank and my acting at night at the same time.As I walked,I thought seriously about giving up both acting and San Francisco.City life had become too much for me.
As I walked down empty streets under tall buildings,I felt very small and cold.I began running, both to keep warm and to keep away from any possible robbers.Very few people were still out except a few sad-looking homeless people under blankets.
About a block from my apartment,I heard a sound behind me.I turned quickly, half expecting to see someone with a knife or a gun.The street was empty. All I saw was a shining streetlight.Still, the noise had made me nervous,so I started to run faster. Not until I reached my apartment building and unlocked the door did I realize what the noise had been.It had been my wallet falling to the sidewalk.
Suddenly I wasn't cold or tired any more.I ran out of the door and back to where I'd heard the noise.Although I searched the sidewalk anxiously for fifteen minutes,my wallet was nowhere to be found.
Just as I was about to give up the search,I heard the garbage truck pull up to the sidewalk next to me.When a voice called from the inside,"Alisa Camacho?"I thought I was dreaming. How could this man know my name? The door opened, and out jumped a small red-haired man with an amused look in his eyes."Is this what you're looking for?"he asked, holding up a small square shape.
It was nearly 3 a.m.by the time I got into bed.I wouldn't get much sleep that night, but I had got my wallet back.I also had got back some enjoyment of city life.I realized that the city couldn't be a bad place as long as people were willing to help each other.

19.People are always afraid of making mistakes. But sometimes it is not bad to make mistakes, and here is why.
First of all, mistakes are a clear sign that you are trying n ew things. It's always good to try new things because when you are trying new things you are growing. If you never try new things, how can you improve? How can you create? The simple answer is,"You can't."Look around you.Everything you see is the result of someone trying new things.
Another good thing about mistakes is this:when you are making mistakes, you are learning.Consider this:Edison failed 10,000 times before he invented the light bulb. When he was asked how he felt after having failed so many times,he claimed that he hadn't failed 10,000 times, but had learned 10,000 things that didn't work.
Finally, when you make a mistake, you are much closer to your goal. Why?Because you have said what you should say,and you have done what you should do.Every time you make a mistake, you are closer to your goal. But it doesn't mean that you can make mistakes without thinking.Instead, when you try new things, you have to think them over so that you can keep away from some unnecessary mistakes.
As the old saying goes,"If you are not making mistakes, you are not trying hard enough."So go bravely and make mistakes. And learn. And grow. And succeed.
