12.Jealousy (嫉妒) is a horrible feeling that weeds its way into your life and relationships before you know it.You might want something someone else has,or feel like they're happier than you.It might seem like an uncontrollable emotion, but it's truly not!
Remember your big accomplishments. If your coworker gets the promotion you wanted,it doesn't mean you haven't done great work.List out your accomplishments and think about how you got them and what you've done since then. You'll quickly find that you're just as worthy as the person you're envying!
Appreciate your own good fortune.Think of where you are in your life and how you got there.Did you just buy your first car?Are you able to save one paycheck each month? Are you surrounded by loving family and amazing friends? You have a lot of good things, and you have a lot of good fortune coming your way.Stop letting jealousy eat you alive and realize that you can better spend that energy on furthering your own success and happiness.
Appreciate that others can do what you can't.How boring would life be if everyone was the same? What if the entire population of your city was applying for your job,and they all had the same qualifications?Appreciate that everyone is different. Some people are better in powerful management positions, while maybe you're better working with people.A friend might be an excellent artist-a quality you're envious of,but don't forget that you're a great musician!Acknowledge that people need to be different, need to be better at various things.

Dr.Scott Small is a professor of neurology at Columbia University  in new York City.He is the lead writer of a research paper describing the effects of cocoa flavones on brain activity  His study involved 37volunteers aged between 50and 69.Researchers gave them a high-level flavones drink made from cocoa beans or a low-level flavones drink.For a period of three months,some subjects got 900milligrams of flavones a day.The others got 10milligrams of flavones each day.Brain imaging and memory tests were given to each study subject before and after the study Dr.Small says that the subjects who had the high-level flavones drink showed much improvement on memorytests.
The researchers warn that more work is needed to be done because this study was performed  only on a small group.Dr.Joann Manson is the lead researcher of a four.year study involving 18,000adults.This study will use flavones capsules(胶囊) The study subjects will be divided into two groups and will take two pills per day.The capsules used will all Look the same.But one group's capsules will contain flavones,while the other group will take capsules made of an inactive substance,or placebo
Dr.Manson says it's not necessary for people to start eating more chocolate,because 3person would have to eat a huge amount of chocolate to get the same level of flavones given to the Lest subjects.He adds many manufacturers have planned to remove the flavones from their chocolate products.Similarity,Dr.says a cocoa-based flavones extract(提取)may be developed in the future But he says that more studies are needed to see how much flavones is good for our health.

32.What was done to the subjects alter Dr.Small's study?C
A.They were asked to take a high-level flavones drink

33.What's the similarity of the 2experiments?D
A Both use high-level flavones capsules
B The number of the subjects is the same
C Drinks and placebos are used in both experiments
D The subjects are divided into two groups in both experiments
34.Why will Dr.Manson carry out the four-year study?B
A To prove the first experiment is wrong
B To carry out the experiment further
C To test how much flavones can improve our memory.
D To show eating chocolate is better to improve memory.
35.What can we learn from the last paragraph?C
A It's not necessary for us to eat chocolate
B The more we eat flavones, the better our health will be

7.Science can't explain the power of pets,but many studies have shown that the company of pets can help lower blood pressure (血压) and raise chances of recovering from a heart attack,reduce loneliness and spread all-round good cheer.
Any owner will tell you how much joy a pet brings.For some,an animal provides more comfort than a husband/wife.A 2002study by Karen Allen of the State University of New York measured stress (紧张) levels and blood pressure in people-half of them pet owners-while they performed 5minutes of mental arithmetic (算术) or held a hand in ice water.Subjects completed the tasks alone,with a husband/wife,a close friend or with a pet.People with pets did it best.Those tested with their animal friends had smaller change in blood pressure and returned most quickly to baseline heart rates.With pets in the room,people also made fewer math mistakes than when doing in front of other companions.It seems people feel more relaxed (放松)around pets,says Allen,who thinks it may be because pets don't judge.
A study reported last fall suggests that having a pet dog not only raises your spirits but may also have an effect on your eating habits.Researchers at Northwestern Memorial Hospital spent a year studying 36fat people and their equally fat dogs on diet-and-exercise programs; a separate group of 56people without pets were put on a diet program.On average,people lost about I1pounds,or 5% of their body weight.Their dogs did even better,losing an average of 12pounds,more than 15% of their body weight.Dog owners didn't lose any more weight than those without dogs but,say researchers,got more exercise overall-mostly with their dogs-and found it worth doing.

32.What does the text mainly discuss?A

B.dogs lost the same weight as people did
C.dogs liked exercise much more than people did
D.people without dogs found the program unhelpful.
17.With the development of society, the choice of food and drinks for children is more diversified than ever before. However, every coin has two sides. Many facts suggest that children are overweight and the situation is getting worse, according to the statistics.I feel there are a number of reasons for this.
Some people blame the fact that we are surrounded by shops selling unhealthy, fatty foods, such as fried chicken and ice cream,at low prices. This has turned out a whole generation of grown-ups who seldom cook a meal for themselves. If there were fewer of these restaurants then probably children would buy less take-away food.
There is another argument that blames parents for allowing their children to become overweight.I agree to this, because good eating habits begin early in life, long before children start to visit fast food shops. If children are given fried chicken and chocolate rather than healthy food,or are always allowed to choose what they eat, they will go for sweet and salty foods every time, and this will carry on throughout their lives.
There is a third reason for this situation.Children these days take very little exercise. They do not walk to school. When they get home, they sit in front of the television or their computers. Not only is this an unhealthy pastime(消遣),it also gives them time to eat more unhealthy food. What they need is to go outside and play active games or sports.
The above are the main reasons for this problem, and therefore we have to encourage young people to be more active,as well as guiding them away from fast food shops and bad eating habits.
