If something that you're doing doesn't challenge (向…挑战) you, then it doesn't change you. We all need some normal stress in our lives, after all. 1. So challenge the following limits:

1. Figure out what you're scared of and do it continuously.

If you're a salesman, and you're scared of talking to people personally or over the phone, now, instead of being scared and thinking you’ll fail, spend at least five minutes a day to pick up the phone and make a call. 2. But don't stop on the first try! Eventually, you can look at fear in the eyes and say, "Go on, I'm not scared!"

2. Take a class for a hobby you've been wanting to develop.

Make sure this hobby is not linked to your career; you have to relax and relieve your stress while doing this. Some examples might be cooking, sewing, painting and so on. You will challenge yourself by learning something new. 3.

3. 4.

You don't need to go to the gym. A simple 9-minute run around your neighborhood can do wonders for yourself.Exercise can not only help you maintain your regular weight, but also make you feel better about yourself.

4.Travel and allow yourself to be interested in new people.

5. - try to connect with the service staff. You never know what kind of people they're going to be. Get out of your house or go online right now to book your class. Start to travel now and learn to challenge yourself.

A.Set aside at least a few minutes a day for physical exercise.

B.You should make a plan before you travel.

C.Running may be a better choice.

D.Don't just limit yourself to your fellow travelers.

E.Taking a class for what you like may give you extra income as well.

Habits, whether good or bad, are gradually formed. When a person does a certain thing again, he is driven by some unseen force to do the same thing repeatedly, then a habit is formed. Once a habit is formed, it is difficult, and sometimes impossible, to get rid of. That’s why we should pay great attention to the formation of habits. Children often form bad habits, some of which remain with them as long as they live. Older persons also form bad habits as long as they live, and sometimes become ruined by them.

There are other habits which, when formed in early life, are of great help. Many successful men say that much of their success has something to do with certain habits in early life, such as early rising, honesty and so on.

Among the habits which children should not form are laziness, lying, stealing and so on. These are all easily formed habits. Unfortunately older persons often form habits which should have been avoided.

We should keep away from all these bad habits, and try to form such habits which will be beneficial for ourselves and others.

1.The last word, “them”, in the first paragraph refers to _________.

A. good habits B. bad habits

C. children D. older persons

2.Why should we pay attention to the formation of habits?

A. Because habits are of great help to every one of us.

B. Because a man can never get rid of a habit.

C. Because we are forced to do them again and again.

D. Because it’s hard and even not possible to throw away bad habits.

3._________ are formed little by little.

A. Good habits

B. Bad habits

C. Both good habits and bad habits

D. Either good habits or bad habits

A Bite of China is a serious documentary providing a unique view of Chinese as well as the relations between people and food and between people and society from the perspective of food.

The touching documentary reminds some people of their mother, and makes some realize that every grain comes from hard work. Some people see patriotism (爱国主义) in the documentary, and some consider it a great cultural export.

“It is not empty propaganda (宣传) about China’s splendid food culture. Instead, it shows the techniques used in making food and their production process as well as the lives of ordinary people, thus striking a chord (共鸣) with the audience, ”an Internet user said. The success of the documentary should be attributed to sincerity and reality.

It is said sarcastically that Americans like to shoot sci-fi films because they have no history, while Chinese like to shoot time-travel dramas to the past because they have no future. It has set people thinking. Works that are created behind closed doors and fail to reflect reality or that only focus on the luxury lives of a few people and ignore ordinary people’s desire for enough food and clothing will not touch people’s hearts, and they will be no use whether traveling to the past or the future.

A Bite of China shows that a commercial documentary promoting patriotism can be full of touching details, that the emotions of ordinary Chinese people should be exhibited even in publicizing China overseas, and that even a completely commercial program can achieve both artistic and commercial success.

“We made this documentary with our respect and love for food, ”said director Chen Xiaoqing. Being sincere is the most important thing for artists because they cannot move others unless they themselves are first moved, and cannot convince others unless they themselves are first convinced. Sincerity is the “secret” for making this documentary so popular, and every cultural creator should learn from its success.

1.What is not the feature of A Bite of China from Paragraphs 1 and 2?

A. Showing relations between people and food and between people and society.

B. Making people realize every grain comes from hard work.

C. Not only providing delicious food but also making people see patriotism.

D. Touching many mothers who can do some cooking.

2.How was Paragraph 4 written?

A. Giving an example. B. Comparing.

C. Narrating. D. Introducing.

3.What’s the secret for making this documentary so popular and successful?

A. Beauty. B. Delicious taste.

C. Interest. D. Sincerity.

4.What’s the best title for the passage?

A. Why is A Bite of China so popular?

B. Why is A Bite of China made into a film?

C. The process of making A Bite of China.

D. A Bite of China witnesses patriotism.

Seven Ways to Find Out What You Really Want in Life

Be good to yourself

You can’t pinpoint(准确指出) exactly what you want in life. You’re constantly sacrificing your time and dreams for other people. 1. Ask yourself: if you weren’t tied down by your job, family, or anything else, then what would you be doing right now?

Regret nothing

To be good to yourself is not selfish. It’s your life. It’s time for you to live it exactly the way you want to. If you constantly regret things you did or didn’t do in the past, then you won’t be able to move forward. 2.

Figure out what you need

Sometimes it’s hard to figure out what you need. Sit down and think about what you need most. The freedom to express yourself? Love? Financial security? Something else? If it helps, you can make a list. Also think about the kind of legacy(遗产) you want to leave behind.

3.

You can fly only by pushing back against something you don’t want. Figure out what upsets you, and be specific about it. Don’t just say that you hate your office job. Pinpoint exactly why you hate it. Could it be your strict boss? Your workload? Your meaningless job title? Or all of the above?

Determine what makes you truly happy

There’s no life to waste if you’re happy with living it. Think about what makes you happy. Being around children? Is it traveling? Owning a successful business? Financial freedom? 4.

Let people around you know what you’re trying to achieve

Don’t keep your goals and desires to yourself. Voice it all out! If you tell people what you’re trying to accomplish, they will most likely support you and give you new ideas. Sometimes mother does know best!

Stay positive

Life doesn’t always go how you want it. Don’t feel discouraged as your plans stray(偏离). Take control. Instead of being anxious, try your best to advance with the changes. You will get there someday. 5.. You’re just taking a little detour(绕道).

A. Don’t live in the past but live in the present!

B. Sometimes a positive attitude is all you need to keep going.

C. Determine what really bothers you.

D. Once you pinpoint the one thing that makes you happy the most, you’ll have a pretty clear

idea of what you should struggle hard to get in your life.

E. You have to put yourself first, because if you don’t, then no one else will.

F. Determine what you are going to do next.

G. You should think of things positively.

Laughter Yoga(瑜伽) is one form of yoga. Madan Kataria, a doctor in Mumbai, India invented it. He believed that people had forgotten how to really laugh. Through his research he made an interesting discovery. The human mind does not know the difference between forced laughter and real laughter. Forced laughter can also lead to a feeling of happiness.

And then Kataria had the idea for a group of people who would laugh together. He gathered a few of his friends together. They met in a public park in Mumbai. That small group grew and grew! And this is how people began to do Laughter Yoga. People doing Laughter Yoga usually meet together in a Laughter Club. Kataria’s friends formed the first Laughter Club in 1995.

But by the end, everyone is usually laughing in a real way! Each meeting is a little different. But there are common exercises groups may do.

Experts say that the exercises help blood move around the body faster. They also say that Laughter Yoga helps people deal with the bad things in their lives. I decided to go back to school in the fall of 2010 for not being happy with my current job and financial status. I got my Associate (大专毕业证书) in May 2002 in commercial art. After graduation, I had trouble getting a job in that field. For years, I was going from one job to another, and I was not satisfied with unstableness (不稳定).

I decided to go back to school to study either international business or psychology (心理学). I weighed the pros and cons of both professions and psychology won. I like helping my friends and family. When they are faced with hard situations in their life, I’d like to give them sound advice and be honest with them. Also, I was interested in the “mind”.

I searched for online schools because my work schedule would not allow me to study in a classroom. I was nervous about taking online classes because I had heard mixed stories from my friends who were taking online classes. I decided to do it anyway to experience something different. I wanted to find an online school that was affordable and believable. While I was doing the online search, I discovered Walden University, which is specially for working adults who want to have a bachelor’s degree or higher. The process of getting accepted was easy, i.e. writing an essay on why I wanted to attend their school, sending my previous credits (以前的成绩), etc.

I am currently enrolled in the bachelor’s program for psychology, and I am paying for college via financial-aid loans (贷款). This experience has been interesting and yet upsetting as sometimes it was difficult to balance work, school and home life. I have learned a lot about psychology and myself. For example, I like writing about current events, relationships and traveling. I thought my English composition was ordinary, but after taking a few classes at Walden University, I have improved my English composition and it has made me feel confident enough to start writing professionally. Now I am a freelancer (自由撰稿人) and I am only three classes away from getting my bachelor’s degree in psychology. It is one of the best decisions I have made in my life.
