题目内容

14.Claude Monet was born on November 14,1840,in Paris,but he spent most of his childhood in Le Havre,a city of southern France.By the time he was fifteen Monet had become popular as a caricaturist(漫画家).Through an exhibition of his drawings at a local frame shop in 1858,Monet met the French landscape painter Eugene Louis Boudin,who introduced Monet to outdoor painting,an activity that soon became his life's work.
By 1859Monet had committed himself to a career as an artist and began to spend as much time in Pairs as possible.During the 1860s he met Edouard Manet.With other ambitious French painters,they formed the impressionist school.
Working outside,Monet painted simple landscapes and he began to have some success.As his style developed,however,Monet broke one traditional artistic convention(常规)after another.His experiments with bright color became more and more daring,and he seemed to cut himself off from the possibility of a successful career as a conventional painter supported by the art establishment.
In 1874Monet and his colleagues decided to organize their own exhibition.They called themselves independents,but the press soon labeled them impressionists because one of Monet's paintings had borne the title Impression:Sunrise.Then the name stuck.
By the mid-1880s,Monet,generally regarded as the leader of the impressionist school,had achieved significant recognition and financial security.In 1890 he was able to purchase some property in the village of Giverny,not far from Paris,and there be began to construct a water garden-a water lily pond with a Japanese bridge.Beginning in 1906,paintings of the pond and the water lilies occupied his mind for the rest of his life.His famous series Water Lilies,painted between 1990and 1926,Clearly shows the artist's strong interest in color and produces a remarkable(不寻常的)visual effect.Despite failing eyesight,Monet continued to paint almost up to the time of his death,on December 5,1926,at Giverny.

解答 49.B  细节理解题,根据第一段Monet met the French landscape painter Eugene Louis Boudin,who introduced Monet to outdoor painting,an activity that soon became his life's work.可知莫奈在绘画上受法国风景画家欧仁•布丹的影响较大,故选B.
50.B  推理判断题,根据第四段They called themselves independents,but the press soon labeled them impressionists because one of Monet's paintings had borne the title Impression:Sunrise.Then the name stuck.可知媒体将莫奈他们称为印象派是因为他的一幅绘画的标题"Sunrise",故选B.
51.D  细节理解题,根据第一段 in 1858,Monet met the French landscape painter Eugene Louis Boudin;最后一段By the mid-1880s,Monet,generally regarded as the leader of the impressionist school;In 1890 he was able to purchase some property in the village of Giverny;Beginning in 1906,paintings of the pond and the water lilies occupied his mind for the rest of his life可知在1985年莫奈遇见了布丹,19世纪80年代中期他成为了印象派的领袖,1890年他在吉维尼村买了一所房子,而1906年开始关于池塘和睡莲的画占据了他的余生,由此可知正确的排列顺序为bcad,故选D.
52.A  推理判断题,根据最后一段Despite failing eyesight,Monet continued to paint almost up to the time of his death,on December 5,1926,at Giverny可知在莫奈视力衰退的时候他仍然在继续作画,几乎到他去世的时候他仍然在作画,故选A.

13.By now,we are all aware that social media has had a tremendous influence on our culture,in business,on the world-at-large.Social media websites revolutionized the way people communicate and socialize on the Web.However, aside from seeing your friends'new baby on Facebook,or reading about Justin Bieber's latest conflict with the law on Twitter, what are some of the real influences?
Social networks offer the opportunity for people to re-connect with their old friends and
acquaintances, make new friends, share ideas and pictures, and many other activities.Users can keep pace with the latest global and local developments, and participate in campaigns and activities of their choice.Professionals use social media sites like LinkedIn to enhance their career and business development.Students can work together with their peers to improve their academic and communication skills.
Unfortunately, there are a few downsides too to social networking. If you are not careful,
immoral people can target you for cyber bullying and disturbance on social sites.School children,young girls,and women can fall victim to online attacks which can create tension and suffering.If you are a victim of cyber bullying,do not take it lying down, but try to take appropriate legal action against the attacker.
Many companies have blocked social networks as addicted employees can distract themselves
on such sites, instead of focusing on work. In fact, studies show that British companies have lost billions of dollars per year in productivity because of social media addiction among employees.
Also, what you carelessly post on the Net can come back to trouble you.Revealing( 泄露)
personal information on social sites can make users vulnerable(易受伤害的)to crimes like identity theft, stalking, etc. Many companies perform a background check on the Web before hiring an employee. If a potential employee has posted something embarrassing on social media,it can greatly affect their chances of getting the job. The same holds true for our relationships too,as our loved ones and friends may get to know if we post something undesirable on social networks.
Social media has its advantages and drawbacks as each coin has two sides. It is up to each user to use social sites wisely to enhance their professional and social life, and exercise caution to ensure they do not fall victim to online dangers.
