Last week, two (company), Kitty Hawk and Uber, announced their plans to bring flying cars to reality. Sooner you think, flying cars may appear in the skies. Imagine never (have) to worry about traffic, stoplights, or road construction. A flying car could get somewhere much faster than one traveling by road.
Kitty Hawk is a start-up tech company supported by Google co-founder. Its first flying cars, travel at a speed of up to 40 kilometers an hour, expect) to go on sale by the end of 2017. Uber expects to launch flying taxis in Texas and Dubai by 2020.says its flying taxis could travel up to 241 kilometers an hour, with the travel time (reduce) from 2 hours on the road to 15 minutes in the air between San Francisco and San Jose, California. Riders could use the Uber app (book) a flying taxi to take them to their destinations. It is estimated that flying taxi travel will be much (expensive) compared with road taxi travel.

expect在此是谓语动词,根据与主语Its first flying cars是被动关系,故要用一般现在时态的被动语态,故填are expected。
(7)考查代词。此处用代词it代替上文提到了Uber公司,特指,故填It。
(8)考查过去分词。With的复合结构:with+宾语+过去分词,此处the travel time与reduced之间是被动关系,故填reduced。
(9)考查不定式。固定搭配:use sth. to do sth(使用……去做……),用不定式表示目的,故填to book。
(10)考查形容词。句意:据估计,飞行的士要比陆地的士要更贵一些。要用形容词比较级作表语,故填more expensive。

NEW YORK—Australian mining enterpriser Clive Palmer on Tuesday unveiled(公布) blueprints (蓝本) for Titanic Ⅱ, a modern copy of the doomed ocean liner, although he didn't call the ship unsinkable any more.
The ship will largely recreate the design and decoration of the fabled original, with some modifications to keep it in line with current safety rules and shipbuilding practices, and the addition of some modern comforts such as air conditioning, Palmer said at a press conference in New York.
The three passenger classes, however, will be prevented from mingling(混杂), as in 1912, Palmer said. “I'm not too superstitious(迷信的). ”Palmer said when asked whether recreating a ship best-known for sinking was tempting fate.
White Star Line, the operator of the original ship, had said the Titanic was designed to be unsinkable. About 1, 500 people died on Titanic's maiden voyage in 1912 from Southampton to New York after the ship collided with an iceberg in the North Atlantic.
Palmer, who created the company Blue Star Line last year, refused to make a similar boast.
“Anything will sink if you put a hole in it,”Palmer said. “I think it would be very cavalier(漫不经心的) to say it.”
Unlike the original, TitanicⅡ will have more than enough space in its lifeboats for every person on board and will have additional escape staircases. Markku Kanerva, sales director at Deltamarin, the Finnish company designing the ship, said it would be “the safest cruise ship in the world”.
Palmer refused to answer questions about the project's cost. Although the Titanic was the world's largest ship in her time, she would be smaller than many of today's modern cruise ships.
“It's not about the money, ”Palmer said. “I've got enough money for it. I think that's all that matters.”
Forbes estimated Palmer's net worth to be $795 million in 2012. He describes himself as a billionaire.
TitanicⅡ will be built by Chinese state-owned CSC Jinling Shipyard, which has already built four ore carriers for Palmer's mining business, he said. The contract to build TitanicⅡ has not yet been signed, Palmer said.
(1)What can be inferred about TitanicⅡ from the passage?
A.TitanicⅡ will have more space in its lifeboats than the Titanic.
B.TitanicⅡ will be the largest cruise ship in the world.
C.TitanicⅡ will allow different classes of passengers to mingle.
D.TitanicⅡ will be a real unsinkable cruise ship.
(2)Which of the following statements is TRUE according to the passage?
A.1, 500 people died on Titanic's maiden voyage in 1912.
B.The Titanic collided with an iceberg in the South Pacific.
C.The Titanic was equipped with air conditioning.
D.The Titanic was the world's largest ship at that time.
(3)What's the author's purpose of writing the passage?
A.To tell us the story of the Titanic.
B.To tell us TitanicⅡ will cost a lot of money.
C.To tell us about the future TitanicⅡ.
D.To tell us a Chinese Shipyard will build TitanicⅡ.
(4)What's the best title of the passage?
A.The old Titanic
B.The blueprints of TitanicⅡ
C.The unsinkable TitanicⅡ
D.Clive Palmer—a billionaire

【题目】Sound travels very well through water-much better, in fact, than it does through air. So it shouldn’t be surprising that many ocean animals make noise. They use sound to communicate and hunt. As biologist Brandon Southall says, “Their whole world is related to sound.”

Dolphins whistle, organizing hunts. Lovesick whales sing so loudly they can be heard hundreds of miles away. But these days they aren’t the only ones sounding off. They have more and more competition from human machines.

Every day, thousands of huge container ships sail across the world’s oceans. On top of the engine noise, the ships’ propeller (螺旋桨) make a loud noise all the time. All that can make it hard for ocean animals trying to listen out for friends, or dinner. Animals swimming nearby a ship can be deafened or even killed.

Underwater construction can also be dangerously loud. When construction machines called pile drivers were used during repairs to the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, dead fish appeared.

Geologist (地质学家) pound on the seafloor too, trying to find oil wells and map Earth’s surface. The results are useful lo science, but all that hammering probably gives ocean animal a headache.

As people realize how important sound is to ocean animals, they are looking for ways to reduce human noise. Ships could get quieter just by slowing down. Engineers are also trying to find quieter propeller ships.

Now some companies are using a simple invention called a bubble curtain, which makes sound waves passing through it lose energy and gel quieter. It seems to work - when bubble curtains were fixed on the San Francisco bridge project fish deaths dropped.

We still have a lot to learn about sound in the oceans, but together we can help keep the sea a quieter place.
