【题目】All hotels redecorate regularly. However, very few do it as frequently as Sweden’s Icehotel. As the name indicatesthe hotel that is located in the remote village of Jukkasjarvi, is built entirely from ice andthereforehas to be rebuilt annually! The 26th version of Icehotel, which welcomed its first visitors on December 11thfeatures 69 rooms. To make them affordable for everyone, they range from expensive luxury suites to basic accommodations.

Among this year’s unique suite offerings is the“Elephant in the Room”which features a massive 3-m tall sculpted African elephant overlooking an ice—framed bed. The hotel also features a beautifully crafted ice church where over 100 couples will get married this year and an Ice Bar that will serve drinks in ice glasses. Though dining options are limited to the hotel’s only restaurantguests will have little to complain about with Michelin—trained chef Alexander Meier. To keep customers entertainedthe hotel offers a variety of fun activities like snowshoeingmoose or snowmobile safarisdog sleddingand even overnight wilderness camping.

The 26-year-·old tradition began accidentally in 1989 when locals organized an art exhibition to draw winter visitors to the remote village that lies 200 km north of the Arctic Circle. Among the many tourists was an adventurous group and they announced their intention of spending the night in the place where the exhibition was being held. E. Learn how to make decisions

F. A new best friend (or love)

Nearly everyone likes traveling. Sometimes we will travel with our friends or families, but sometimes we will travel alone. Different ways for traveling will give you different feelings. Here are five benefits you can gain by traveling alone.

【1】______

For me, traveling alone was one crash course(速成班) in making decisions–-just keep on rolling the dice(骰子) and see what comes up. Stop the research. Stop the analysis paralysis. Just keep choosing and living. In travel, everything is as it is, and there’s always another day to change course and choose again. A lot more happens in life when you stop worrying about what to do and just go.

2_____

The sense of risk and reward is what draws me to traveling alone. Traveling with a friend can be an adventure too, but the adventure quotient(指数) is usually higher when you are alone. You’re more vulnerable(脆弱) in the sense that you have to seek out company and help. Hey, just because I’m traveling alone doesn’t mean I can’t ask a hunky Carioca volleyball player to put sunscreen on the hard-to-reach places. That’s the advantage of traveling alone, isn’t it? Openness to adventure.

3 ______

Traveling alone also teaches you to trust your fellow men and women. They are the ones who help you out when you are in need. I will never forget the man who stopped a long-distance bus for me in Colombia so he could go buy me Coke and toilet paper (I confessed to him that I had “digestive” issues right before we got on the bus). Then he invited me to his family’s home for lunch, and I still get emails from the family saying they will never forget me.

4______

When you travel alone, the trip is completely yours. You are the star of your own movie. All the mistakes are yours to make, the accidental discoveries to enjoy, and the insights to savor. The recollection of the trip is entirely personal and private.

5______

In a whole year of travel, I made a new best friend who I know will be a friend for life. We will be at each other’s weddings if we get married, we coach each other through our post-(or newly)-travel lives, and we hope to meet up for other adventures in Africa, Asia, and to dance tango in Buenos Aires. Our friendship is pure gold and we have both helped each other grow in countless ways. That openness to a new friend might not have been there if I had already been traveling with someone else. And who knows? You might meet the love of your life.

【题目】When early colonial settlers went to America, they took many forms of dance to their new home. Square dancing, one of the oldest forms of American folk dancing, developed from several different Old World group dances, mainly English country dances, and the French quadrille(四对方舞).

In the American version of square dancing, four couples form a square and dance to music. An American addition to square dancing is the caller. What do you think a caller does?

The callers---someone who calls out the dance steps in time to the music--- was a completely American invention. At first dancers memorized all the steps for a particular dance, but eventually the dances became so complicated that it was necessary to have someone call out cues (提示) so that dancers didn’t have to remember so many steps. The caller didn’t just call out “do-se-do your partner”; a good caller also came up with colorful sayings or witty lines that he said in between the cues such as “Don’t be shy and don’t be afraid. Swing on the corner in a waltz promenade (步伐).” A caller might also come up with new dance steps and routines.

Although popular for years, square dancing seemed to be going out of style and fading away until the early 1930s, when Henry Ford helped revive(复苏)interest in it. Ford, the automobile manufacturer, used to vacation at the Wayside Inn in Massachusetts, where he enjoyed the dance programme run by a man named Benjamin Lovett. Ford asked Lovett to come to Detroit and teach dances, but Lovett said he couldn’t because he had a contract with the inn. Ford solved that problem by buying the inn and Lovett’s contract. He took Lovett back to Detroit, where together they established a programme for teaching squares and rounds. Square dancing was updated and groups began forming all over the country.

【题目】To me, inspirations mean to put my thoughts, heart, and creations into my jewelry. Sometimes I become so inspired with what I’m working on that I can finish one or more sets in less than an hour. Because of that feeling, I have named my jewelry collection “Inspirations”.

I am a 17-year-old student with sickle-cell anemia. With this, I am in and out of the hospital a lot. So I started making jewelry a year ago when I was in the hospital. I really needed something to do, so I was introduced to jewelry making by a child life expert.

One day while lying in my hospital bed, I decided to get up and go to the patient’s playroom ,and look through the craft designs. That was when I became inspired to design my jewelry collection, and named it “Inspirations”.

When I’m not sick, I try to keep a positive attitude through reading, schoolwork and craft activities. Even though there is a lot of work, I try to stay focused all the time. When I need a break or just to be free I turn to my craft activities. This is a way to ease my mind and it always helps me to especially get through those stressful times.

I am getting very excited about graduating next year and preparing myself for college. Who knows my collection of “Inspirations” would take me to the places I always dreamed of? I may see celebrities I admire and even sell them some of my beautiful “Inspirations”. If they wear my “Inspirations”, it will be well known and in great demand. What a great way to make some extra money for college! I never thought being sick would bring me “Inspirations”. I want people to look beyond my illness and see the creations I’ve made in my collection called “Inspirations”.
