15.Street art can be found on buildings, sidewalks, street signs and even trash cans from Tokyo to Paris to New York City. This special kind of art can take the form of paintings, sculptures, cloth or even stickers. It has become part of a global visual culture. Now,even art museums and galleries are collecting the works of street artists.
It is not easy to provide an exact history of the street art movement. This kind of art has developed in many kinds of ways in places all over the world. Also, because it is illegal to paint on public and private property without permission, street artists usually work secretly. This secretive nature of street art and its countless forms make it hard to define exactly. And people have different opinions about the movement. Some think street art is a crime and destroys property. But others see this art as a rich form of non-traditional cultural expression.
Many experts say the movement began in New York City in the 1960s.Young adults would use paint in special cans to spray their"tag"on walls and train cars around the city. This tag was a name they created to identify themselves and their artwork. This colorful style of writing is also called graffiti (涂鸦).It is visually exciting and energetic. Some graffiti paintings were signs marking the territories of city gangs or illegal crime groups.
Graffiti also became a separate movement expressing the street culture of young people living in big cities.Graffiti art represented social and political rebellion (叛逆).This was art that rejected the accepted rules of culture and power. These artists could travel around areas of the city making creative paintings for everyone to see.Sometimes this street art created a conflict between artists and city officials.Graffiti artists created their images and city officials quickly painted over them.
During the 1980s,two New York painters-Keith Haring and Jean Michel began showing their work in art galleries and museums. This is when street art started to become part of the more general popular culture.

6.When a rather dirty,poorly dressed person kneels at your feet and puts out his hands to beg for a few coins,do you hurry on,not knowing what to do,or do you feel sad and hurriedly hand over some money?What should our attitude to beggars be?There can be no doubt that the world is full of terribly sad stories.It must be terrible to have no idea where our next meal is going to come from.It seems cruel not to give some money to beggars.
Certainly,most of the world's great religions order us to be open-hearted and share what we have with those less fortunate than ourselves.But as the world changed?Maybe what was morally right in the old days,when one knew exactly who in the village had suffered misfortune and needed help,is no longer the best idea.Quite a few people will not give to beggars.Let us look at their arguments.
First,some believe that many city beggars dress up on purpose to look pitiable and actually make a good living from begging.Giving to beggars only encourages this sort of evil (恶行).Secondly,there is the worry that the money'you give will be spent on beer,wine or drugs.Thirdly,there is the opinion that there is no real excuse for begging.One might be poor,but that is no reason for losing one's sense of pride and self-dependence.
Related to this is the opinion that the problem should be dealt with by the government rather than ordinary people.Some people think beggars should go to the local government department and receive help.
It is hard to come to any final conclusion; there are various cases and we must deal with them differently.A few coins can save a life in some situations,and even if the money is wasted,that does not take away the moral goodness of the giver.

21.What is mainly discussed in the passage?D
A.Moral deeds of people.
B.Religious activities of the church.
C.Moral goodness of the giver.
D.Arguments on giving to beggars.
22.What can we infer from the sentence"But has the world changed?"in the second paragraph?B
A.People no longer know who suffers misfortune in the village.
B.Some people will not do what was morally right in the past.
C.We don't meet with those who need help any more.
D.Now it is the government's duty to help the beggars.
23.Which of the following is NOT mentioned in the passage?B
A.Some people dress up to pretend to be beggars.
B.Some beggars want money to help their children go to school.
C.Some beggars use the money to buy drugs.
D.Some beggars have no excuse for begging.
24.In the last paragraph,the writer thinks that it is hard to come to any final conclusion,becauseA.
A.the cases can be so different
B.there are so many beggars
C.there is so much money wasted
D.there are so many different arguments.
3.What will power your house in the future?Nuclear,wind,or solar power?According to scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the US,it might be leaves-but artificial (人造的) ones.
Natural leaves are able to change sunlight and water into energy.It is known as photosynthesis (光合作用).Now researchers have found a way to imitate this seemingly simple process.
The artificial leaf developed by Daniel Nocera and his colleagues at MIT can be seen as a special silicon chip with catalysts (催化剂).Similar to natural leaves,it can split water into hydrogen and oxygen when put into a bucket of water.The hydrogen and oxygen gases are then stored in a fuel cell,which uses those two materials to produce electricity,located either on top of a house or beside the house.
Though the leaf is only about the shape f a poker card,scientists claimed that it is promising to be an inexpensive source of electricity in developing countries."One can imagine villages in India and Africa not long from now purchasing an affordable basic power system based on this technology,"said Nocera at a conference of the American Chemical Society.
The artificial leaf is not a new idea.The first artificial leaf was invented in 1997but was too expensive and unstable for practical use.The new leaf,by contrast,is made of cheap materials,easy to use and highly stable.In laboratory studies,Nocera showed that an artificial leaf prototype (原型) could operate continuously for at least 45hours without a drop in activity.
The wonderful improvements come from Nocera's recent discovery of several powerful,new and inexpensive catalysts.These catalysts make the energy transformation inside the leaf more efficient with water and sunlight.Right now,the new leaf is about 10times more efficient at carrying out photosynthesis than a natural one.Besides,the device can run in whatever water is available;that is,it doesn't need pure water.This is important for some countries that don't have access to pure water.
With the goal to"make each home its own power station"and"give energy to the poor",scientists believe tha the new technology could be widely used in developing countries, especially in India and rural China.

33.Which of the following orders correctly shows how the artificial leaf is used to produce eletricity?A
a.artificial leaves split water into hydrogen and oxygen
b.the hydrogen and oxygen gases are stored in a fuel cell
cthe artificial leaves are put in water
d.the fuel cell uses hydrogen and oxygen to produce electricity
A.c,a,b,d        B.c,b,a,d
C.b,c,a,d          D.c,a,d,b
34.The purpose of the scientists at MIT in developing the new artificial leaf is toB.
A.build up more power stations in the world
B.provide cheaper energy for developing countries
C.offer people in developing countries access to pure water
D.gain a deeper understanding of the photosynthesis process
35.The main idea of this passage isD.
A.an introduction to the history of artificial leaves
B.a mixture of water power and solar energy
C.giving energy to the poor
D.an invention copying photosynthesis.

7.Before I studied psychology(心理学),I used to think that people would laugh when funny things occurred(发生).While I was right about that,I discovered there are lots of other psychological factors(因素) that make people laugh other than the funny part of a joke.When someone laughs at a joke,there will usually be more than one reason that makes him laugh-and the more reasons there are,the more powerful the joke will be.
I was attending a stand-up comedy(喜剧) show in Egypt,and when the man started to make fun of pedestrians(行人) crossing streets,everyone laughed their hearts out.The main reason those people strongly laughed was that almost all of them felt angry towards pedestrians who crossed streets carelessly.The joke wasn't only funny,it also made the audience feel that they were right about being angry at those pedestrians.That is,people were laughing both because of the funny joke and because of the happiness experienced as a result of the psychological support they got.
The better a joke makes a person feel,and the more it includes other psychological factors,the more the person will like it.For example,if you envy(妒嫉) one of your friends,and someone tells a joke that is funny and,at the same time,makes your friend seem stupid,then you will probably laugh at it louder than if you weren't jealous of him.
In short,we don't laugh only when we hear something funny; we also laugh when we experience some kind of happiness that results from the other psychological factors involved(与…有关) in the joke.I strongly discourage making fun of anyone or belittling someone to make someone else laugh.All I want to explain is that if your joke supports a person's emotions(情感),he will certainly like it a lot.

32.What did the author find out after studying psychology?B

B.The pedestrians behaved in a funny way.
C.They could feel the pedestrians'happiness.
