【答案】

Dear Sir/Madam,

I’m Li Hua, a boy student from China, aged 17. I read the announcement that you have posted on the Internet. I would like to work for you as a volunteer.

First of all, I like animals and I know a lot about wild animals by reading books and watching videos. Second, I’m easy-going and I have no problem getting along with others easily. Third, having learned English for 10 years I can speak fluent English, which makes it convenient for me to communicate with others. My purpose is to make more people realize the importance of protecting wild animals. I’d appreciate it if I can be accepted!

Looking forward to your reply!

Yours faithfully,

Li Hua

【题目】Summer Rain

The worst days of any summer are the rainy ones. We spend all year looking forward to nice weather and long, hot days. All of winter, with its cloudy days and bitter cold, we dream of those endless days at the beach, lying on the sand and enjoying the bright and burning sun. And then, summer comes, and it rains.

As a child, I would wake up to rainy summer days and come close to crying. It wasn’t fair. We suffered through months of school and experienced bad weather for those short ten weeks of freedom and pleasant weather.

On those rainy summer days, I had nothing fun to do and could only sit inside, staring out at the rain like a bird in a cage. I was an only child, so there was no one else to play with. My father worked from home, so I was not truly alone, but he could not actively play with me since he was at work. It was those days that I would watch whatever was on television or read any books that I could find lying around. I’d drag through the day and pray each night that the rain would not be there the next day.

As an adult, though, my opinion of summer rain has changed. When you have to work every day, summer is not as exciting. Everything seems dull. Such a mindset makes you cheer for anything new or different. I spend the winter dreaming of summer and the summer dreaming of winter. When summer comes, I hate how hot it is. And then I look forward to the rain, because the rain brings with it a cold front, which makes me comfortable. Rainy days are still the worst days of the summer, but summer rain today means positively beautiful and considerably cooler weather tomorrow.

【题目】 “People are ruder today because they are rushed and more ‘time poor’ than ever before,” says Patsy Rowe, “Manners_have_fallen_off_the_radar(雷达).” Due to our strong attraction to electronic equipment it is a wonder more people don't wake up each morning and greet the singing birds with a complaint(抱怨)about the noise. Here are some examples of rudeness.

Some people prefer to do almost everything over the Internet. To them, dealing with an actual human needs more patience. It feels very slow because humans don't work at 4G speeds. When you have dinner with friends, you will often notice someone paying more attention to his mobile phone. We have programmed ourselves to think that every new message brings life-changing news, so taking calls and checking our texts are more important than talking to the people we are with. What is worse, some people even tend to send anonymous(匿名的) rude messages by email.

However, rudeness is never acceptable. Don't assume it is OK to be rude if the person you're in touch with won't recognize you. If you have something awful to say, have the courage to face the person and say it, write a letter or email and sign it, or forget it. Upsetting people with unsigned messages is cruel and disgusting.(令人厌恶的)

We shouldn't blame technology for our shortcomings. Technology is here to help us,but we should not allow it to take over our lives. An important step is acknowledging our shortcomings. People spend a lot of time pointing out bad manners but it would be even more helpful if we'd publicly acknowledge good manners when we see them.

【2】Some people are less willing to deal with humans because ________.

A.they are becoming less patient

D.they have to follow an evolutionary step backward

【3】The author thinks sending unsigned awful messages is ________.

A.ridiculous

B.disgusting

C.acceptable

D.reasonable

【4】What can we learn from the last paragraph?

A.We should applaud (为喝彩) good behavior.

B.Technology can never be blamed.

C.We should keep pointing out mistakes.

D.Technology will take over our lives one day.
