故选A
(3)细节理解。根据文章倒数第二段内容:But your primary concern is to let them know they are valued 可知志愿者们除了帮助保护智障患者的安全外,最重要的任务就是让那些被帮助的人感到自身的价值和重要性,故答案选D。
(4) 细节理解。根据文章末段的小标题Skill and Experience Required.和末段中 Previous care-related experience will be a great advantage for you. 可知有先前类似经验的人在申请这项工作时会优先得到录用,故答案选B。

Reasons Why Physical Education is Important in School
Are you looking for information about the importance of physical education in schools and why it should be emphasized? Do you want a healthy active lifestyle for your kids? Then this article can help you convince your kids that exercising and participation especially in school PE classes are important.
It's a link to good health.
It's only in physical education classrooms that students learn the value of taking care of themselves through proper healthy eating and regular exercise.
It's preventive measure against diseases.
Without any forms of diet management and control with the numerous processed foods students intake every day, a student's health can easily be at risk of many diseases. Physical education in schools is a preventive measure to teach students the value of regular exercise.

Physical health allows students to function even better in classrooms. A good cardiovascular(心血管的) system developing from regular exercise promotes excellent blood and oxygen circulation. This means more nutrients circulate throughout the body which includes the brain. This circulation produces longer attention time during classes allowing longer concentration and better absorption.
It builds self-esteem
Students who are active in physical activities like basketball, volleyball and running are more confident with themselves according to most social school studies. In school, the physical education program introduces these sport activities to students allowing them to make choices of which sport areas they want to get involved in.

Most physical education programs are holistic. The program allows students to interact together to a common goal, that is, to win and excel physically. It not only brings out the competitive sides of students working with both body and mind but also promotes sportsmanship.
It promotes a physically active lifestyle.
The purpose of physical education is to instill(逐渐灌输) in students, at an early age, the value of self-preservation and choosing a lifestyle that is good for both the mind and body.
A. Physical education plays a vital role in students' development and growth.
B. It's a program for muscle strength and fitness.
C. It's probably because of the dedication made to a sport that brings out the best in students.
D. It develops cooperation, teamwork and sportsmanship.
E. The value of physical fitness cannot be overstated too much.

【题目】任务型阅读How to Improve Vocabulary Fast
Your vocabulary refers to the words in a language you are familiar with. We should learn some ways to expand it.
Read every day. Choose reading material that is slightly above your level and keep a dictionary with you to look up words you do not know.
If you do not meet with an unfamiliar word in your daily reading, use your dictionary to search for one.
Learn the correct definition and pronunciation for each new word. Pronunciation is as important as definition because in order to add a word to your active vocabulary, you must be able to use it in speech.
Elaborate(阐释)on the meaning of the word. Use imagery and personal relevance. If you have just learned that the word “stubborn” , think about the neighbor who will not lend you his car.
Use your new word in speech and in writing. E-mail your sister about how your cat is stubborn about sleeping on your pillow. But the more you use it, the more fluent you will become in its use. Soon it will be a regular part of your active vocabulary.
Tell everyone you are trying to increase your vocabulary. Encourage them to ask you what your latest word is .The more you explain the meaning of a word to someone, the more likely you are to remember it.
A. Or let them ask for the definition of a new word you have used.
B. Your vocabulary contains the words you understand.
C. The vocabulary can be increased.
D. Imagine him shaking his head, and think of him as “stubborn in his refusal”.
E. The first time you use a new word in speech it may seem strange.
F. Find a new word every day.
G. The more often you read, the faster your vocabulary can grow.

When asked about happiness, we usually think of something extraordinary, an absolute delight, which seems to get rarer as we get older.
For kids, happiness has a magical quality: Their delight at winning a race or getting a new bike is unreserved (毫不掩饰的).
In the teenage years, the concept of happiness changes. Suddenly it's conditional on such things as excitement, love and popularity. I can still recall the excitement of being invited to dance with the most attractive boy at the school party.
In adulthood the things that bring deep joy-love, marriage, birth-also bring responsibility and the risk of loss. For adults, happiness is complicated (复杂的).
My definition of happiness is “the capacity for enjoyment”. The more we can enjoy what we have, the happier we are. It's easy to overlook(忽视) the pleasure we get from the company of friends, the freedom to live where we please, and even good health.
I experienced my little moments of pleasure yesterday. First I was overjoyed when I shut the last lunchbox and had the house to myself. Then I spent an uninterrupted morning writing, which I love. When the kids and my husband came home, I enjoyed their noise after the quiet of the day.
Psychologists tell us that to be happy we need a mix of enjoyable leisure time and satisfying work. I don't think that my grandmother, who raised 14 children, had much of either. She did have a network of close friends and family, and maybe this is what satisfied her most.
We, however, with so many choices and such pressure to succeed in every area, have turned happiness into one more thing we've got to have. We're so self-conscious about our “right” to it that it's making us miserable. So we chase it and equal it with wealth and success, without noticing that the people who have those things aren't necessarily happier.
Happiness isn't about what happens to us-it's about how we see what happens to us. It's the skillful way of finding a positive for every negative. It's not wishing for what we don't have, but enjoying what we do possess.
(1)As people grow older, they _____.
A.care less about their happiness
B.feel it harder to experience happiness
C.will take fewer risks in pursuing happiness
D.tend to believe responsibility means happiness
(2)What can we learn about the author from Paragraph 5 and 6?
A.She cares little about her own health
B.She enjoys the freedom of traveling
C.She prefers getting pleasure from housework
D.She is easily pleased by things in daily life
(3)People who equal happiness with wealth and success _____.
A.stress their right to happiness too much
B.consider pressure something blocking their way
C.are at a loss to make correct choices
D.are more likely to be happy
(4)What can be concluded from the passage?
A.Happiness lies in wealth
B.Each man is the servant of his own fate
C.Happy is he who is content
D.Success leads to happiness

【题目】阅读理解
In 1978, I was 18 and was working as a nurse in a small town about 270 km away from Sydney, Australia. I was looking forward to having five days off from duty. Unfortunately, the only one train a day back to my home in Sydney had already left. So I thought I'd hitch a ride (搭便车).
I waited by the side of the highway for three hours but no one stopped for me. Finally, a man walked over and introduced himself as Gordon. He said that although he couldn't give me a lift, I should come back to his house for lunch. He noticed me standing for hours in the November heat and thought I must be hungry. I was doubtful as a young girl but he assured (使…放心)me I was safe, and he also offered to help me find a lift home afterwards. When we arrived at his house, he made us sandwiches. After lunch, he helped me find a lift home.
Twenty-five years later, in 2003, while I was driving to a nearby town one day, I saw an elderly man standing in the glaring heat, trying to hitch a ride. I thought it was another chance to repay someone for the favour I'd been given decades earlier. I pulled over and picked him up. I made him comfortable on the back seat and offered him some water.
After a few moments of small talk, the man said to me, “You haven't changed a bit, even your red hair is still the same.”
I couldn't remember where I'd met him. He then told me he was the man who had given me lunch and helped me find a lift all those years ago. It was Gordon.

A.He helped the girl find a ride.
B.He gave the girl a ride back home.
C.He bought sandwiches for the girl.
D.He watched the girl for three hours.
(3)The reason why the author offered a lift to the elderly man was that .
A.she realized he was Gordon
B.she had known him for decades
C.she was going to the nearby town
D.she wanted to repay the favour she once got
(4)What does the author want to tell the readers through the story?
A.Those who give rides will be repaid.
B.Good manners bring about happiness.
C.Giving sometimes produces nice results.
D.People should offer free rides to others.
