【题目】Every morning, before dropping her son off at school, my friend would stop on the way to work to grab a quick breakfast. They tended to frequent the restaurant every morning grabbing an egg sandwich, juice, coffee for herself, milk for her son.

上世纪70年代，一些科学家提出了一种假设，即我们的宇宙只不过是许多宇宙之一，它们都有着各自的物理学定律和错综复杂的结构，生命就在其中一切条件都恰好适宜的宇宙中出现。到了80年代，现代宇宙学中的某些理论则证明，这样的“平行宇宙”的确可能存在。近年来，英国科学家发现了另一个“宇宙”在我们的宇宙中遗留的痕迹，他们认为有可能证明了多元宇宙的存在。

“宇宙膨胀”产生更多宇宙？

科学家通过宇宙大爆炸遗留下来的辐射证实，宇宙曾经历过一个转瞬即逝的超高速扩张阶段，科学家将这个阶段称为“暴涨宇宙”模型。简单地说，就是宇宙在极其短的时刻（远小于1秒），将其体积瞬间扩大，就像吹气球一样。而如果膨胀的速率稍微改变一点儿，那我们的宇宙就不会是现在这样了。因此，许多科学家开始怀疑“暴涨宇宙”模型。他们提出，我们现在观测到的宇宙空间，更贴切的说法是类似一个泡沫，在宇宙之外还存在无数个泡沫，也就是说，存在无数个宇宙。所有的宇宙有着同样的或者说类似的机制进行各种限制，每个宇宙都经历了一次大爆炸，他们都是在大爆炸中诞生，并且存在着相同的物理定律。但是，并不是说所有的宇宙都能“存活”下来，只要将大爆炸的“参数”进行细微的调整，各种宇宙就会出现不同的情况了。

多元宇宙论的观点

支持“宇宙永恒膨胀论”的科学家认为，我们所在的宇宙只是一个更大宇宙中的其中之一，不管是我们的宇宙还是其他的宇宙都处于不停地膨胀当中，同时之间也有更多宇宙产生，此论点也被称为“多元宇宙论”。其他宇宙的特性与我们存在差异，但与我们所处的宇宙共存。虽然宇宙膨胀说仍然没有切实的理论模型，但理论表明，的确可以有若干宇宙以不同的速率同时膨胀。在这个更为广大的“多元宇宙”中，我们的“宇宙”只不过是极渺小的一个单元罢了。其他的宇宙中可能无法产生银河系、恒星、行星和生命，甚至根本无法产生物质。然而我们所认为的必备条件也许并不唯一，同时修改若干常量或定律，组合得出的物理学定律体系与我们的条件大相径庭，但却可能营造同样宜于生存的和谐世界，甚至可以有生命在其中诞生。

另一个“宇宙”被发现的证据

不久前，英国科学家罗杰彭罗斯称已经发现了宇宙大爆炸之前还存在另一个宇宙的证据。他在对宇宙微波背景辐射的研究中，发现了神秘的同心圆现象，可以认为宇宙诞生之前还有宇宙，并且提供了在前一个宇宙中所发生事件的痕迹。根据他的研究报告称，一共发现了12个同心圆辐射“印迹”，其中有5个圆具有特别的意义，分别对应着宇宙演化历史上5次大规模的事件。出现星系团附近的神秘“圆环”的变化幅度在背景辐射上看却显得非常低。因此研究人员似乎开始抛弃“暴涨”宇宙模型，“暴涨”理论认为宇宙诞生于一次大爆炸中，并在将来会继续膨胀直到一个临界点，这种宇宙模型不仅有开端，也有结束。

这一发现并非是对大爆炸理论的否定，相反，它支持这样一种观点，即大爆炸可能发生过很多次。科学家们解释说我们生活于一个“循环”的宇宙中——当我们的宇宙终结，标志着一个“世代”的结束。但是它会立即引发一次大爆炸，从而产生一个新的“世代”，也就是一个新的宇宙，这样永恒循环。两位著名宇宙学家——普林斯顿大学的保罗斯泰恩哈特和牛津大学的尼尔图洛克曾出版图书表示：“无论是时间还是宇宙都没有开始或者结束。宇宙进化过程是循环往复的，‘大爆炸’每一万亿年发生一次，每一次都伴随着新物质和新辐射的产生，并形成新的星系、恒星、行星以及生命。我们不过是最近一次循环的组成部分。”
