Here's one very simple but lifechanging advice that I first heard from Brian Tracy. Cut down on the TV at night by just one hour. Instead, use that hour to read books that could improve your life.
If you're a salesman, google for the best and most useful books on improving your sales.
This applies(适用) to all fields, not just the work-related(与工作相关的) ones. Maybe you want to improve your health, become a more energetic person. Or maybe you want to improve your study, your relations or perhaps do some personal development.
One hour a day is not much. But if you read for one hour a day on weekdays, that's about 260 hours a year. That's a large number of books and a lot of useful advice.
If you follow the ideas, who knows what great things and feelings could come into your life. Also, all that information and advice will start to open up your mind. You will start to see more chances in your life.
Now, you might think something like this:
1. I really don't have the money...
Answer: Visit your public library or search the database(数据库). Or look for books that are used in places like amazon.com.
2. I really don't have the time...
Answer: Buy audiobooks and listen to them in the car while driving to and from work. Or copy them to your MP3-player and listen while riding your bike /bus to work or school. Recently selling audiobooks through MP3-downloads has become popular...

Snake dishes have become popular in recent years. Snake meat is often seen in restaurants. It seems that eating snakes is now in fashion, and if you ( A ) ___________ (not eat) any snakes yet, you’re considered out-of-date. But I wonder whether it is worth following.
Some people think that eating snake meat is good for their health. But these people don’t know that snakes usually eat mice and worms. Therefore, there are many parasites(寄生虫)found inside snakes’ bodies. ( B ) 它们可能对我们的健康有害。 Apart from this, we’re sorry to see that more snakes are being killed by a butcher’s knife. According to the newspaper, Shanghai Star, about 1,000 tons of snakes are eaten by people every year in China. In Shenzhen of Guangdong Province, sometimes as many as 10 tons of snakes are served on dinner tables in a single day. ( C ) If we still turn a blind eye to this, a vicious circle(恶性循环)will be created — if more snakes are eaten by people, the number of snakes will drop, and the number of mice will increase, which will result in a decrease in crop output. This will make more people hungry. Who wants to see such a tragedy?

Ted, my little brother, is in Grade One. Last Friday he came back from school with a letter.  The letter was from his teacher. "I got a red flower today. Could you please sign签字 this note?" he said to Mum. The note showed that he had been talking in class.
Ted hardly gets top scores in his school work. The best he gets is "OK", but often he gets "You can do better than this." Mum knows what it means. She tells me "You can do better than this" means "Extremely bad" in China.

If you go into the forest with friends, stay with them .If you don’t, you may get lost. If you do get lost, this is what you should do. Sit down and stay where you are. Don’t try to find your friends. Let them find you. You can help them to find you by stay in one place.
There is another way to help your friends or other people to find you. Give them a signal(信号)outing or whistling (吹口哨) three times. Stop. Then shout or whistle three times again. Any signal given three times is a call for help.
Keep on shouting or whistling, always three times together. When people hear you, they will give two shouts or two whistles. When a signal is given twice, it is an answer to a call for help.
If you don’t think that you will get help before night comes, try to make a small room with branches.(树枝)
