题目内容

I had said goodbye to my husband, Joe, so often, but this time was      .
We now had our first child. After nights of talks, we made the difficult       that Joe would go by himself to Alabama for the six-month training course, and I would stay behind with our new son. It was important that I      my teaching position(职位)near our home at Fort Hood. Also we were part of a strong network of friends whom I could turn to for help.
On Joe's       evening at home, I bathed little Joey, got him into his sleeper and was heading to the bedroom when Joe gently touched         on the shoulder. Lifting the baby from my arms, he said he wanted to put Joey to bed tonight.
They headed down the hall, and I busied myself with meaningless tasks,      Joe to appear from the bedroom within a few minutes. A half hour went by, and still he had not come back. Thinking he was having       getting our son to fall asleep, I walked quietly to the baby's room and looked into the dimly-lit(灯光暗淡的)room.
Sitting in the rocking chair, moving slowly back and forth, was my husband with tears(眼泪)in his eyes. He was holding our baby in his arms      he had fallen asleep long before. When his pained eyes met mine, he said, "I just can't put him down."
That night we stood over Joey's bed, holding each other and saying over and over that we would make it through this leaving and be        again soon.
Joey is six now, and he has a four-year-old brother named Jack. There have been many goodbyes since that night, yet my soldier still fights back tears when it's time to        once again in service to his country and give his boys that last, long hug(拥抱)goodbye.

When I had something difficult to do, I used to(过去常常) ask my mum for help. But she always said, “Do it    _, dear.” I would get so angry(生气). I thought she was      mother in the world!
For example, one day, I decided      some friends to my home. My bedroom was very dirty. Books were all over the table and ground. I didn’t make my bed. I asked my       to help me clean it. But she said seriously(严肃地),“Do it yourself, girl.”
Because of my “lazy mum”, I have to               my clothes and clean my room. I have to help my parents     . I even have to go to the dentist(牙医)     . It is really hard to do everything on my own,      I have learned a lot.
As time goes by, I understand my mother. It’s her “laziness” that makes me clever and diligent(勤奋的). Just as my mum always says,“A lady can’t be lazy, or(否则) she’ll be crazy.        can make you sunny(阳光)!”

科I am a mother of three and have recently completed my college degree. The last class I had to take was sociology(社会学). The teacher was really great. The class was asked to go out and smile at three people.
I am a very       person and thought this would be a piece of cake. Soon after, my husband, youngest son and I went out to McDonald’s. We were standing in line, waiting to be       , when all of a sudden everyone around us began to     away, and then even my husband did.
As I turned around I smelled a terrible “dirty body” smell, and there standing behind me were two poor        men. As I looked down at the short gentleman, he was “     ”. His beautiful sky blue eyes were full of God’s Light as he searched for acceptance. He said, “Good day.” as he counted the few       he had been holding.
The young lady at the counter(柜台) asked him what they       . He said, “Coffee is all Miss.” because that was all they could afford. He just needed to be warm.
Then I really        it—the compulsion(冲动) was so great that I almost      out and hugged the little man with the blue eyes.
That is when I noticed all eyes in the restaurant were set on me, judging my every action. I smiled and asked the young lady behind the counter to give        two more breakfast meals on two plates.
I then picked up the plates and walked around the counter to the             that the men had chosen as a resting place. I put the plates on the table and laid my hand on the  blue-eyed gentleman’s        hand. He looked up at me, with tears in his eyes, and said, “Thank you.”
I graduated with one of the biggest lessons I would ever learn:acceptance without condition.

When my son, Mark, was in the third grade, he saved all his pocket money for over three months to buy Christmas presents. The third Saturday in December Mark said he had made his list and had twenty dollars in his pocket.
I drove him to a nearby supermarket. Mark picked up a basket and went in while I waited and watched in the car. It took Mark over 45 minutes to choose his presents. Finally he came to the checkout counter and reached into his pocket for his money. It was not there! There was a hole in his pocket, but no money. Mark stood there holding his basket, tears falling down his face.
Then a surprising thing happened. A woman came up to Mark and took him in her arms. "You would help me a lot if you let me pay for you," said the woman. "It would be the most wonderful gift you could give me. I only ask that one day you will pass it on. When you grow up, I would like you to find someone you can help. When you help others, 1 know you will feel as good about it as I do now."
Mark took the money, dried his tears and ran back to the checkout counter as fast as he could. That year we all enjoyed our gifts almost as much as Mark enjoyed giving them to us.
I would like to say “thank you” to that very kind woman, and tell her that four years later, Mark went house to house collecting blankets and clothes for the homeless people in the fire. And I want to promise her that Mark will never forget to keep passing it on.
