题目内容
These days, many students like playing 3D games. Do you know what 3D games are like? In most 3D games, game players need to control (控制) a character(人物). The character can be a robot(机器人) or a soldier (士兵). Game players usually use the mouse(鼠标) to make the character move around in his own world. Game players can find things such as food and weapons (武器) to help them go on with the game. The character can go straight, sit down, turn left, turn right or pick up things in the game.
Some 3D games have many levels (等级). The character needs to finish different goals for each level. Game players can play against(对抗) their computers, and sometimes they can play with other players on-line. It's great fun to play 3D games. But playing 3D games for long is not good for our study.

In England, some food companies across the whole country have been told to carry out urgent (紧急的) tests on all beef products. Do you know why? That’s because some food companies used horsemeat to make beef products.
There are some examples about the horsemeat matter. In January, 2013, in a number of UK supermarkets, frozen(冰冻的) hamburgers were found to have a little horsemeat in them. Some frozen beef products made by food company FINDUS were found to contain horsemeat. All of the beef products made by this company have been removed from sale.
The government said that there’s nothing to suggest any health risk from the products. Food minister David Heath said people should not throw away frozen meat products and carry on eating meat. The government will tell people not to eat meat if the meat is not safe.
Food safety has been an important matter all over the world. More and more countries plan to take some useful measures to ensure the safety of food.

During all this time I never stopped thinking about escape. When I traveled across to the other side of the island, I could see the other islands, and I said to myself, “Perhaps I can get there with a boat. Perhaps I can get back to England one day.” ![]()
So I decided to make myself a boat. I cut down a big tree, and then began to make a long hole in it. It was hard work, but about six months later, I had a very fine canoe (独木舟). Next, I had to get it down to the sea. How silly I was! Why didn’t I think before I began work? Of course, the canoe was too heavy. I couldn’t move it! I pulled and pushed and tried everything, but it didn’t move. I was very unhappy for a long time after that.
That happened in my fourth year on the island. In my sixth year I did make myself a smaller canoe, but I did not try to escape in it. The boat was too small for a long journey, and I did not want to die at sea. The island was my home now, not my prison, and I was just happy to be alive. A year or two later, I made myself a second canoe on the other side of the island. I also built myself a second house there, and so I had two homes.
My life was still busy from morning to night. There were always things to do or to make. I learnt to make new clothes for myself from the skins of dead animals. They looked very strange, it is true, but they kept me dry in the rain.
I kept food and tools at both my houses, and also wild goats. There were many goats on the island, and I made fields with high fences to keep them in. They learnt to take food from me, and soon I had goats’ milk to drink every day. I also worked hard in my corn fields. And so many years went by.

A.Because it was too small for a long journey.
B.Because it was too heavy to get down to the sea.
C.Because there was something wrong with it.
D.Because the writer was busy building a second house.
A.the writer tried to make his stay comfortable on the island
B.the writer had nothing to do on the wild island
C.the writer tried to escape in the second canoe, but failed
D.the writer was in prison on the island, losing his freedom
You must have heard of many European cities like Paris, London, Berlin and Rome. What about Copenhagen? It is the capital of Denmark. But do you know another name of it? It is also called " Europe's bicycle capital". In the city, people enjoy a large network of bike paths. Of course, this is a nice, green life.
However, this has caused an unusual problem—bike jams ! And they are becoming regular on some city streets. So, recently, Copenhagen has decided to build bicycle highways !
Then, what will a bicycle highway look like? It is a road with a bike path on either side. The road itself is built for buses and cars only. But each bike path will be built four meters wide! And traffic lights will let bicycles go first. In the future, bike highways will be with bike stops. At the stops, the persons who ride bikes can take a rest and mend bikes. Besides, some bicycle highways will link the suburbs(郊区) with the center of Copenhagen. So, people can travel across Copenhagen by bike quickly and safely.
You may say that the idea of bicycle highways sounds like a dream. But just as a writer once said, "If you will do it, it is no dream. "![]()

Some countries have a large number of earthquakes. Japan is one of them, while others do not have many, for example, there are few earthquakes in Britain.
There is often a great noise during an earthquake. The ground vibrates (颤动).Houses fall down. Railways are broken, which causes trains to turn over. Sometimes thousands of people are killed in different ways. About 60,000 were killed in 1783 in the south of Italy. Some people say that earthquakes often happen near volcanoes(火山), but it is not true. The centres of some earthquakes are under the sea. The bottom of the sea suddenly moves. The powerful forces inside the earth break the rocks. The coast is shaken and great waves appear. These waves travel long distances and rush over the land when they reach it, breaking down houses and other buildings. Sometimes they break more buildings than the earthquake itself.
A terrible earthquake happened in Assam, India, in 1986.The land near Shillong suddenly moved 1.5 feet to one side, and then back again. It continued to act like this 20 times a minute.Few buildings could stand what was happening and the great stones flew four feet up into the air. What kind of building stays up best in an earthquake? The Americans carefully studied the results of the earthquake at San Francisco(1906) and believed it best for buildings to be made with concrete(混凝土) walls together by steel frames. Such are the buildings that can't burn or fall easily.
