Li Ming and Wang Yan took a study tirp to San Francisco in July this year. San Francisco is a large and beautiful city in the United States. They went there to attend(参加) English lessons. They arrived in San Francisco at midnight(午夜). The next day they went sightseeing. They rode the cable cars, saw the Golden Gate Bridge(金门大桥), and had lunch at Fisherman’s Wharf(渔人码头). On the third day they visited the school where they would had lessons. They had English lessons there in the following(接下来的) ten days. They liked the campus(校园). They thought that it was very beautiful.
They toured around San Francisco before they left. Then they took the train to other cities because they wanted to see more of the United States. The trip took them ten days. They had a wonderful trip. Perhaps they will go there again next summer.

A little boy invited his mother to the first teacher-parent meeting of his elementary school. To his surprise, she said she would go. This would be the first time that his classmates and teacher met his mother. She was a beautiful woman, (1)____ there was a scar (伤疤) that covered nearly the right side of her face. Having heard that, the little boy was so moved that he ran towards his mother with tears in his eyes. He hugged (拥抱) her and held her right hand tightly for the rest of the day.
