Last weekend, when Jack was walking in the park, he saw a woman, who lived a few miles away, sitting on a bench with a dog beside her. The dog was looking up at the woman.
Jack walked up to the woman and said, “Hello, Sue, how are you? May I sit and talk with you for a while?”
“Of course, please sit down,” Sue said.
Jack sat down next to Sue on the bench, and they talked quietly together. The dog continued to look up at Sue, as if waiting to be fed. “That’s a nice dog, isn’t he?” Jack said, pointing at the animal.
“Yes, he is. He’s handsome. He’s a bit of a mixture, but that’s not a bad thing. He’s strong and healthy.”
“And hungry,” Jack said. “He hasn’t taken his eyes off you. He thinks you’ve got some food for him.”
“That’s true,” Sue said. “But I haven’t.”
They both laughed and then Jack said, “Does your dog bite?”
“No,” Sue said. “He’s never bitten anyone. He’s always gentle and friendly.”
Hearing this, Jack decided to hold out his hand and touched the animal’s head. Suddenly it jumped up and bit him.
“Hey!” Jack shouted. “You said your dog didn’t bite.”
Sue replied in surprise. “Yeah, I did. But this is not my dog. My dog’s at home.”

小题1:A
小题1:C
小题1:C
小题1:B
小题1:A

1. A 此题是个推测题。根据who lived a few miles away可知他们并不是邻居;再从下面他跟妇女打招呼叫她Sue可知并不是陌生人,故选A。
2. C 细节题考查。根据“And hungry,”可知这狗之所以看着Sue,是因这它很饿,选C。
3. C 此题来自两人对话内容。上文说“He’s never bitten anyone. He’s always gentle and friendly才有了下文Jack摸摸狗,他以为是Sue的狗(结果不是),故选C。
4. B 从上文He’s never bitten anyone可知她的狗不咬人,故选B。
5. A 此题是给标题考查。B只是讲的一个方面,C答案愉快的会面不准确,后面Jack被狗咬了,而A的话全面概况了全文。真是Jack“Does your dog bite?”这个问题才导致他后面被咬,故选A。

On Thanksgiving Day, a teacher asked her class of first-graders to draw a picture of something they were thankful for. She thought that these children from poor families actually had little to be thankful for. And she found most of them drawing pictures of flowers or tables with food. The teacher was very surprised to see the picture Douglas handed in. It’s a hand, a simple hand.
But whose hand? The class were very interested in the strange picture. “I think it must be the hand of God that bring us food,” said one child, “A farmer,” said another, “Because he grows beautiful flowers.” Finally when the others were at work, the teacher went over Douglas’ desk and asked whose hand it was. “It’s your hand, Teacher,” she said quietly and shyly.
She remembered that she had often taken Douglas, a dirty lonely child, by the hand while having a class break. She often did that with the children. But it meant so much to Douglas. Perhaps this is everyone’s thanksgiving, not for the material things we get, but for the chance, in whatever small way, to give to others.

One weekend, Li Jie invited me to watch a film. I liked films very much so I went to the   40  with him happily. The film was about the love between a   41  and her son. Monty Robert’s father was a horse trainer. As a child, Monty often went from one farm to  21  with his father. Sometimes they didn’t have enough money to   22  food, but Monty still kept hoping to own a   23  farm.
When he was in school, his teacher asked him to write a paper   24  what he wanted to be and do when he grew up. He wrote a seven-page paper   25  his dream of having a horse farm one day. He   26  drew a picture of a horse farm in the paper.
The next day he handed   27  in to his teacher. Two days later, he got his paper back. On the front page was a large red “F” with some words “See me after class.”   28  the boy did and asked his teacher, “Why did I get an F?” The teacher said, “This dream will not   29   for a young boy like you.   30  a horse farm needs a lot of money. You have to buy the land. You have to pay for a lot of things. There is no way you could ever do it.” Then the teacher added, “If you write this paper again with a   31  dream, I will give you a good grade.”
After school he thought about it   32 . At last, he decided to hand in the same paper, making   33  changes at all. He wrote, “You can keep the F and I’ll keep my   34 .”
Many years later, Monty had his own 200 acres horse farm. His dream came true.
So don’t let   35  take away your dreams. Follow your dreams, no matter what they are.
